Minister Heads Qatar Delegation to Council of Arab Ministers of Transport 38th Session
The State of Qatar today participated in the 38th Session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Transport, in Cairo. The Qatari delegation was headed by Minister of Transport H.E. Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulla bin Mohammed Al Thani.The meeting discussed several topics on the areas of pan-Arab ground, maritime, air, and multimodal transportation, including regulating the road transportation of passengers and goods between and across Arab countries, creating a comprehensive Arab e-platform for road, rail, maritime and multimodal transportation, and unifying HAZMAT transportation protocols.The meeting also discussed a study on approving the components of smart and sustainable transportation as a reference for developing transportation strategies, in addition to developing and sharing information on transportation, warehousing and logistics transportation strategies, promoting the use of clean energy in ground transportation, exchanging lessons learnt and expertise, and assessing the efficiency of goods and passenger transportation across the member states.
Minister Participates in Panel Discussion at TransMEA 2025
Minister of Transport H.E. Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulla bin Mohammed Al Thani today participated in a panel discussion, titled “Industry, Transport & Logistics in Action: Connecting the Middle East & Africa”, held during the Smart Transport, Logistics & Infrastructure Fair & Forum for The MEA Region (TransMEA 2025), in Cairo. The panel discussion was attended by several ministers.During the panel discussion, H.E. the Minister said that the relations between the State of Qatar and the Arab Republic of Egypt are deeply rooted and constitute a solid foundation for broadening the horizons of cooperation in the areas of transportation and logistics, noting that the two countries enjoy distinct strategic locations, something which contributes to creating a logistics axis that links the Gulf with the Mediterranean Sea and enhances supply chains and regional trade.Sustainability is a strategic approach in Qatar’s transportation ecosystem, he said, noting that 73% of public buses in Qatar have been transitioned to electricity with the target of 100% electrification by 2030, in addition to running the metro and trams on electricity.He said that all those modes of transportation are supported by advanced infrastructures that, in turn, support smart and sustainable transportation solutions, thereby enhancing Qatar’s global ranking.In addition to reflecting Qatar’s commitment to protecting the environment, those efforts, he said, solidify the country’s position as a regional hub for sustainable transportation and clean logistics.
Minister Heads Qatar Delegation to TransMEA2025 in Cairo
Minister of Transport H.E. Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Thani has headed the State of Qatar’s delegation to the Smart Transport, Logistics & Infrastructure Fair & Forum for The MEA Region (TransMEA 2025), which began today at the Egypt International Exhibition Center in Cairo, under the patronage of President of the Arab Republic of Egypt H.E. Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi and was inaugurated by Prime Minister of Egypt H.E. Dr. Mostafa Madbouly.Numerous ministers and dignitaries from various countries in the region, and more than 500 exhibitors from 30 countries are participating in the event, making it an important regional platform for exchanging expertise and showcasing latest innovations in the fields of industry and transportation.This year's round is held under the theme "Industry and Transport Together for Sustainable Development," where it discusses ways to develop transportation systems to keep pace with future requirements and promote the transition towards an eco-friendly and sustainable transportation, in addition to reviewing prospects for developing related logistics services and examining the key challenges facing that vital industry.
MOT Takes Part in Qatar Boat Show as Strategic Partner
The Ministry of Transport is taking part in the 2nd edition of the Qatar Boat Show 2025.The MOT is the Strategic Partner of the event. Numerous local and international entities specialized in maritime industries and services are participating in the Show, which runs through this Nov. 8 at the Old Doha Port.An MOT booth at the Show highlights some of MOT’s digital maritime services available via the Darb application, which users can install and use anytime, anyplace, thereby saving them time and effort.Using the Drab app, you can, among other services, register a new small craft, renew your registration, modify craft specifications, have a replacement of lost or damaged documents issued, and delete a craft. Users can also request their documents be delivered to their doorsteps via Qatar Post.The booth also featured a mockup of the main station of the water taxi project in Lusail, as well as a visual presentation on its facilities. The project aims to provide modern waterborne public transit systems with cutting-edge ecofriendly technologies. The booth visitors can also participate in some competitions focused on maritime safety awareness.The MOT booth saw a high turnout, with visitors showing eagerness to learn more about what the Ministry offers, such as digital services and forward-looking transportation and mobility projects in light of its MOT Strategy 2025-2030 and in step with the goals of the QNV 2030.The MOT continues supporting specialized national events aimed at enhancing Qatar’s profile as a pioneering regional hub for maritime transportation and logistics services.
Minister, Bahraini Counterpart Launch Qatar-Bahrain Maritime Linkage for Passengers
Minister of Transport H.E. Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulla bin Mohammed Al Thani and Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications of the Kingdom of Bahrain H.E. Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa today launched the regular maritime linkage project between the State of Qatar and the Kingdom of Bahrain, ushering in a new chapter of constructive bilateral cooperation in maritime transportation.The direct passenger-only ferry service, which covers nearly 35 nautical miles (about 65 km), links Al-Ruwais Port in northern Qatar with Sa’ada Marina in Bahrain.Minister of Transport H.E. Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulla bin Mohammed Al Thani described the project as a groundbreaking strategic step that reflects the depth of the brotherly bonds between the two countries and enhances the ties of cooperation and integration between the GCC countries.He added that the project also reflects the State of Qatar’s keenness on the developmental and strategic partnership with the Kingdom of Bahrain and advancing the transportation industry and its associated logistics services, thereby serving the mutual interests and boosting the economic integration within the GCC system.The Ministry of Transport, in collaboration with the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications (MTT) of the Kingdom of Bahrain, was keen on applying the highest safety, security and operational quality standards to ensure convenient and safe travel experience and enhance the efficiency of maritime transportation services between the two countries, H.E. the Minister said, thanking the Bahraini MTT and bodies concerned of both countries for their sincere efforts to complete and deliver that important project.The MOT Undersecretary H.E. Mohammed Abdullah Al-Maadeed said that the maritime linkage project between Qatar and Bahrain embodies the shared vision of both countries, which sees transportation as one of the key drivers of sustainable development.He added that launching the new ferry line isn’t just about transporting individuals and making more mobility options available but represents a qualitative step that creates a platform that incentivizes various economic, tourist, and service activities, which can reflect positively on all industries.With the new ferry service, the trip between Al-Ruwais Port and Sa’ada Marina will take 70-80 minutes. Booking is available via the electronic easy-to-use application (MASAR).In the first phase of the project, the service will be available for passengers from the GCC countries only. The first trips will be during the period 7 to 12 November; two round trips a day, one in the morning and another in the evening, to increase later to three round trips a day, from 13 to 22 November. The number of daily trips can be increased gradually depending on the turnout and ridership rate.Both standard and VIP vessels are available for passengers. Each standard and VIP vessel can transport up to 28 and 32 passengers per trip, respectively, with modern and comforting hospitality services on board. All trips are subject to all the security and customs protocols of both countries to ensure the safety of all passengers.The project represents a paradigm shift in the GCC maritime transportation system, embodying both countries’ commitment to cementing the regional integration and streamlining the movement of individuals, thereby supporting the vision of the GCC toward a uniform, safe and sustainable transportation network.
MOT Takes Part in UDST Career Fair 2025
Represented by its HR Department, the Ministry of Transport has taken part in the University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST)’s Career Fair 2025.The MOT, alongside numerous other public and private entities participating in the two-day event, is anxious to attract national talents and cadets and enhance the connection between students and alumni.An MOT booth at the Fair highlighted some of the key job opportunities, and training and upskilling programs available for students and alumni and briefed the booth visitors on the work environment at the MOT and its ongoing efforts to qualify and build national cadets to advance Qatar’s transportation industry.Numerous Career Fair visitors, who stopped at the MOT booth, learnt more about the work and activities of MOT’s departments, given the growth and progress of the industry, supported by the MOT Strategy 2025-2030 in step with the goals of the QNV 2030.The MOT is committed to supporting national initiatives aimed at empowering national talents and cadets and cementing partnerships with academia to develop the capacities who can advance the national development agenda.
Minister, Colombian Counterpart Meet on Enhancing Relations
Minister of Transport H.E. Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulla bin Mohammed Al Thani met with Minister of Transport of the Republic of Colombia H.E. María Fernanda Rojas Mantilla, in the ministry’s offices.The two ministers discussed Qatari-Colombian relations in the transportation industry, and ways to enhance them, particularly harnessing advanced and smart technologies in developing the infrastructure of that vital industry.
Minister, Italian Deputy Transport Minister Discuss Enhancing Cooperation
Minister of Transport H.E. Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulla bin Mohammed Al Thani met with the Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transport of Italy H.E. Edoardo Rixi, in the ministry’s offices.The two officials discussed Qatari-Italian cooperation in the transportation industry, its assistive logistics services, and ways to enhance it, particularly regarding harnessing advanced and smart technologies in that vital industry.
