MOT Moves 2nd Autonomous e-Mobility Forum to Sept.

The Ministry of Transport has moved the 2nd edition of the Autonomous e-Mobility Forum to Sept. 7-9, 2026, against the backdrop of the current regional situation. The Forum was initially scheduled this April 7-9.Organized by Just us & Otto Marketing Services, the 2026 Forum will feature numerous local, regional and international speakers, senior government officials, industry experts, innovators, academia, and community individuals to highlight some of the latest trends and innovations in autonomous and e-mobility, including how electrification of vehicle fleets and logistics networks is reshaping transportation and daily life in the region, the role of autonomous systems in smart cities, the development of digital infrastructure, AI-based traffic management, and the importance of having strong policy frameworks and incentives to govern secure adoption and implementation. A particular spotlight will be given to the potential for local innovation and ways of supporting the cultivation of homegrown mobility ecosystems.The Forum’s second edition underpins the recently launched Ministry of Transport Strategy 2025-2030, which is closely aligned with the goals of the Qatar National Vision 2030. The Strategy aims at establishing a secure, integrated, and sustainable transportation system powered by innovation, clean energy, and smart technologies. The event also reflects MOT’s continuing efforts to advance next-generation mobility solutions that support the national priorities and address sustainability concerns of global urgency.

Qatar Takes Part in IMO FAL 50 Meetings

The State of Qatar, represented by the Qatar Mission to the International Maritime Organization (IMO), took part in the meetings of the 50th Session of the IMO Facilitation Committee (FAL 50), held at the IMO in London from on March 23-27.Key topics discussed included adopting seamless procedures at ports, accelerating maritime digitalization, and enhancing international cooperation between IMO Member States Qatar to ensure uninterrupted trade flow and efficient and sustainable maritime industry.Qatar pays attention to such meetings to contribute to supporting global efforts to develop the maritime industry and enhance supply chains efficiency. The Qatari delegation stresses Qatar’s commitment to supporting IMO initiatives and working with international partners for a maritime transportation industry that is securer and more efficient.

Minister Takes Part in 28th GCC Transport Ministers’ Committee Meeting

A State of Qatar delegation headed by Minister of Transport H.E. Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulla bin Mohammed Al Thani took part in the 28th extraordinary meeting of the Committee of Transport Ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states, held via videoconference today.The GCC transportation ministers in attendance discussed the current regional situation and its impact on supply chains. They also agreed on several recommendations to enhance the sustainability of land and maritime transportation industries in their countries. They aim to ensure the continuity of supply chains and trade flow amid the current situation in the region.The recommendations included adopting exceptional and flexible procedures to facilitate land transportation and address the urgent challenges that can impede its smooth flow. This aims at ensuring the continuity of operational processes and smooth movement of trucks, buses and taxis between member states during the current regional conditions.They also included applying seamless procedures at ports located outside the Strait of Hormuz for goods destined for the GCC countries, activating green corridors, and enhancing the efficiency of logistic connectivity between these ports and logistic hubs in the GCC countries by improving the readiness of land ports and facilitating the movement of trucks crossing borders.Furthermore, the ministers also recommended allocating prioritized logistic routes for goods and essential commodities arriving through alternative ports.But they underlined the importance of minimizing physical inspection procedures and relying more often on advance inspection solutions using modern technologies.Additionally, it’s been agreed to form a permanent taskforce of representatives from port authorities, land transportation and customs authorities, along with the General Secretariate of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, to monitor the work progress on this alternative plan and address any obstacles immediately.
