Minister, Italian Deputy Transport Minister Discuss Enhancing Cooperation

Minister of Transport H.E. Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulla bin Mohammed Al Thani met with the Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transport of Italy H.E. Edoardo Rixi, in the ministry’s offices.The two officials discussed Qatari-Italian cooperation in the transportation industry, its assistive logistics services, and ways to enhance it, particularly regarding harnessing advanced and smart technologies in that vital industry.

MOT’s “Strategy for Mitigating Land Transport Impact on Health and Environment” Workshop Concludes

A Ministry of Transport’s workshop on its project “Strategy for Mitigating Land Transport Impact on Health and Environment” has concluded. Titled, “Stakeholder Engagement for Policy, Scheme, and Target Development”, the workshop was attended by representatives from government and private entities, experts and specialists from the transportation, environment, and public health industries.The project on the “Strategy for Mitigating Land Transport Impact on Health and Environment” is one of MOT’s initiatives aimed at putting together an integrated strategy supported by a portfolio of projects to mitigate the environmental and health impacts of land transportation, improve energy efficiency, enhance air quality, promote sustainable transportation solutions, provide recommendations and programs to address the challenges resulting from using the various modes of transportation, and develop scientific frameworks and assessment tools to study and analyze their impacts, said the Land Transport Planning Department Director, MOT, Saleh Said Al-Marri.The MOT continues its collaborative approach when developing national policies, ensuring accurate, applicable, and widely accepted deliverables and outcomes.The workshop discussed the phases of the project, assessment tools, policy development, and future projects. It also featured surveys and open discussions among stakeholders on the policies, projects, and KPIs based on each stakeholder’s future directions and implementation mechanisms.Noteworthy, the MOT Strategy includes national policies and projects that support environmental sustainability and better quality of life, in line with the goals of the NDS3 and QNV 2030.

Minister Heads Qatar Delegation to 27th GCC Transport Ministers’ Meeting

Minister of Transport H.E. Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulla bin Mohammed Al Thani has headed the State of Qatar’s delegation to the 27th Meeting of the Committee of the Ministers of Transport of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC), held in Kuwait.The ministers discussed several topics aimed at enhancing GCC cooperation in the areas of transportation and took the necessary decisions regarding the works of the GCC Railways Authority, work progress on the GCC Railway Project, the latest updates on the land transportation strategy, and the recommended amendments to the GCC uniform system for universal land transportation, and its implementing regulations. They also discussed several topics on maritime transportation and ports.

Qatar Attends 27th GCC Transport Undersecretaries’ Meeting

The State of Qatar has attended the 27th Meeting of the Undersecretaries of the Ministries of Transport of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC), held in Kuwait.The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport H.E. Mohammed Abdullah Al-Maadeed headed the Qatari delegation to the meeting.The meeting discussed several topics aimed at enhancing GCC cooperation in the areas of transportation, including the works of the GCC Railways Authority, latest updates on the GCC Railway Project, the land transportation strategy, the recommended amendments to the GCC uniform system for universal land transportation, and its implementing regulations, as well as the rules and controls over the entry of conventional merchant ships to the waters and ports of the GCC countries and the quays to accommodate that type of vessels.Several other topics were discussed, and the necessary recommendations are to be prepared and reported to the meeting of the GCC transportation ministers.

Minister Heads Qatar Delegation to 5th Tbilisi Silk Road Forum

Minister of Transport H.E. Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulla bin Mohammed Al Thani has headed the State of Qatar’s delegation to the 5th Tbilisi Silk Road Forum, inaugurated by the Prime Minister of Georgia H.E. Irakli Kobakhidze, in Tbilisi.The two-day Forum is welcoming nearly 2000 participants from around the world, including heads of governments, ministers, business and industry leaders, and senior representatives from international, financial, and trade organizations.The Forum tackles multiple important topics relating to transportation, logistics, the developing of ground, maritime and air corridors, world trade, energy, digital transformation, and the investment ecosystem of the transportation industry in the participating countries.Qatar’s participation in this event translates its commitment to supporting the international efforts aimed at enhancing global connectivity and exchange of expertise in the domains of transportation. It also emphasizes its role as an active player in developing a transportation ecosystem that is sustainable, both regionally and internationally, through various projects and initiatives consistent with the goals of the NDS3, the Ministry of Transport Strategy 2025-2030, and, ultimately, the QNV 2030.

Qatar, Cyprus Sign MoU on Cooperation in Maritime Field

The State of Qatar and the Republic of Cyprus have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to enhance their cooperation in maritime transportation fields.Minister of Transport H.E. Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulla bin Mohammed Al Thani and the Shipping Deputy Minister to the President of the Republic of Cyprus Ms. Marina Hadjimanolis signed the MoU on the sidelines of the Maritime Cyprus 2025 Conference.As per the MoU, the two countries will enhance their cooperation on meeting the requirements of international maritime carriage, the complete and efficient use of maritime fleet of both countries, ensuring safety and security at the sea, rising of level of protection of marine environment and the prevention of ship-source pollution, and cooperation on maritime transport, science, technologies and sharing the obtained experience.The MoU reflects the Ministry of Transport’s commitment to fostering international cooperation in maritime transportation and creating a marine environment that is safe and sustainable in step with the goals of the QNV 2030.Following the signing ceremony, the two officials discussed bilateral relations in the areas of transportation, and ways to enhance them, particularly regarding maritime navigation and ports.
