MOT Conducts Inspection Campaign on Maritime Vessels

The MOT has conducted a new inspection campaign on maritime vessels in collaboration with MOI’s General Directorate of Coasts and Borders Security. The campaign aimed at ensuring that the maritime vessels meet all safety requirements.Professionals from MOT inspected safety and security equipment on board to make sure they are available and functioning, as well as helmsmen’s compliance with all safety instructions as per the laws and regulations in place.

MOT’s “Change Management” Session Concludes

An MOT “Change Management” session aimed at leadership tuning has concluded. Coordinated with the Planning, Quality & Innovation Dept, the session was meant to harmonize the MOT leadership with the developments of the current phase as preparations are underway to launch the MOT’s new strategy 2025-2030. Leadership tuning helps the teams move in the right direction with greater focus and clear next steps.In attendance were MOT Undersecretary H.E. Mohammed Abdullah Al-Maadeed, several MOT officials and department directors. The goal is to engage the Ministry executives in this important phase which requires their full preparedness. The session focused on explaining work mechanisms and methodology when the strategy takes effect.Constructive and fruitful discussions revolved around the execution of the new strategy, reflecting a spirit of responsibility and active contribution to government performance excellence.

MOT Holds Briefing Session on Digital Transformation Office

The MOT has held a briefing session on the Digital Transformation Office for the Transport & Logistics Sector. The event was attended by several leaderships, experts, and specialists from numerous entities concerned with the execution of the National Strategy for Logistic Services Sector (Transportation & Warehousing).The session focused on the Office’s digital initiatives, including the Digital Logistics Portal that aims at bringing together the government and private logistics services into one integrated digital platform with a unique user experience with world-class standards.The Portal aims at enhancing operational efficiency, more accuracy and speed, and empowering the private sector to benefit from advanced digital markets and interfaces that open broader horizons toward more trade opportunities.The Portal, which is unifying the databases of the transportation and logistics services industry, is ultimately becoming an accurate and reliable reference for decisionmakers and efficiently supporting future policies and plans.This comes as the MOT continues accelerating digital transformation in the transportation, logistics services, and warehousing industry, consistent with the NDS3, the National Strategy for Logistic Services Sector, and Qatar’s Digital Agenda 2030.Discussions at the session revolved around activating the Portal, identifying each entity’s roles and responsibilities, collecting technical and operational requirements, and making the Portal in harmony with the national priorities, thereby reflecting a spirit of collaboration and shared responsibility.Session Video (Light Version)—Click Here

Minister Meets with DCAA Director General

Minister of Transport H.E. Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulla bin Mohammed Al Thani met with the Director General of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority H.E. Workers’ Support and Insurance Fund, MOT Sign MoU on Transportation Solutions for Workers

The Workers’ Support and Insurance Fund today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Transport to strengthen cooperation in areas of common interest. This includes exchanging information and coordinating efforts to further support the stability of the labor market of Qatar.As per the MoU, there will be transportation solutions dedicated for workers to enable them to attend labor dispute sessions before the competent committees.The MoU reflects both parties’ commitment to uphold the policies that safeguard workers' rights, ensure workers’ services accessibility, and reinforce the principles of intergovernmental collaboration.The MoU was signed by MOT’s Acting Assistant Undersecretary of Land Transport Eng. Hamad Issa Abdullah and Executive Director of the Fund Ms. Kholoud Saif Al-Kubaisi, in an event attended by the Ministry Undersecretary H.E. Mohammed Abdullah Al-Maadeed, and several government officials.The agreement stipulates that the MOT will provide safe and convenient transportation for workers involved in ongoing legal cases, in coordination with the Fund.The MoU sets a framework for institutional cooperation, including the exchange of relevant data and information, the activation of joint coordination mechanisms to ensure the continuous disbursement of financial entitlements to workers, and the monitoring of companies facing operational challenges in sectors supervised by the MOT.On this occasion, H.E. Al-Maadeed said that signing the MoU with the Workers’ Support and Insurance Fund is an extension of the Ministry’s approach of strengthening its strategic partnerships with all national entities, thereby translating the MOT’s commitment to its societal role.This collaboration, he added, contributes to enhancing the complementarity of government efforts to providing fair and stable work environment for workers by providing them with safe and convenient transportation to enable them to reach the destinations where they can follow up their legal procedures easily and efficiently.On this occasion, Ms. Kholoud Saif Al-Kubaisi, Executive Director of the Workers’ Support and Insurance Fund, emphasized that the signing of the MoU reflects the Fund’s commitment to removing logistical barriers that may hinder workers in pursuing their legal rights. She noted that this partnership with the Ministry of Transport represents an important step toward achieving swift justice and enabling workers to access fair dispute resolution mechanisms. She also highlighted the significance of this initiative in supporting the Fund’s mission to provide social protection for workers and promote a sustainable work environment, praising the constructive cooperation with the Ministry.Eng. Abdullah expressed the Ministry’s appreciation for this institutional partnership, which contributes to enhancing the efficiency of the transportation system in a way that serves the country’s legal and humanitarian objectives. He affirmed the Ministry’s commitment to providing the necessary logistical support in accordance with best practices and stressed that the MoU reflects the Ministry’s dedication to protecting workers’ rights in the transportation sector, while maintaining the efficiency and stability of this vital industry.Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to implementing the terms of the MoU, with a shared vision of developing joint work mechanisms and exchanging expertise in a manner that serves the public interest and supports Qatar’s national agenda on human rights, decent work, and the preservation of human dignity for all workers in the country.

MOT Undersecretary Inaugurates Qatar’s 1st Maritime Training, Simulation Center

The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport H.E. Mohammed Abdullah Al-Maadeed and President of University of Doha for Science and Technology Dr. Salem bin Nasser Al-Naemi today inaugurated the Maritime Training and Simulation Center (MTSC) at the UDST.The MTSC, the first of its kind in Qatar, is designed to empower current and future maritime professionals with internationally accredited skills and hands-on simulation experience, positioning Qatar as a regional leader in maritime training and innovation.The MTSC provides an interactive learning environment with modern classrooms equipped with state-of-the-art simulation technologies of Classes A and C, featuring navigation and full-mission engine simulation rooms, and maritime safety training facilities including for firefighting and first aid. The MTSC offers specialized training programs recognized by the International Maritime Organization (IMO).Following the inauguration ceremony, which was attended by multiple high-profile Qatari officials and maritime industry experts, H.E. Al-Maadeed toured the facility and was briefed on its services. He also attended an interactive presentation on some of the cutting-edge simulation technologies.The inauguration followed the signing of a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Ministry of Transport and UDST, formalizing a long-term partnership to advance Qatar’s maritime capabilities.Signed by H.E. Al-Maadeed and Dr. Al-Naemi, the MoU reflects a mutual commitment to developing a future-ready workforce through specialized training programs, international certifications, and collaborative research. It also lays the foundation for sustained cooperation in knowledge exchange and capacity building, driving the growth, resilience, and regional and global competitiveness of Qatar’s maritime industry.On this occasion, H.E. Al-Maadeed said, "Inaugurating the MTSC today marks a significant milestone embodying Qatari educational institution’s commitment to enhancing the country’s maritime infrastructure and capabilities through such training facilities equipped with state-of-the-art world technologies. As the global maritime landscape evolves, preparing our workforce to lead with expertise and resilience is essential.”Today’s MoU with UDST, he added, “is a cornerstone of MOT’s broader action plans that aim at further enhancing our maritime transportation ecosystem to contribute to achieving sustainable development of that vital industry.”H.E. the Undersecretary thanked those in charge of those initiatives at UDST and thought the day was a promising day for the future of Qatar’s maritime industry.His Excellency Dr. Al-Naemi, President of UDST, expressed the university’s pride in this achievement: "This Center represents more than just a facility, it is a strategic national asset that embodies our shared commitment to applied, industry-driven education.Through this collaboration with the Ministry of Transport, we are providing opportunities for hands-on learning with the most advanced simulation technologies in the region.Our mission is to ensure that Qatar’s maritime professionals graduate with the skills, confidence, and competence to meet the highest international standards.
