Montreal - Canada Minister of Transport H.E. Jassim Saif Ahmed Al-Sulaiti met with Transport Minister of the French Republic H.E. Mr. Clément Beaune, on the sidelines of Qatar’s participation in the 41st Session of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Assembly. The two ministers reviewed Qatari-French cooperation relations in the fields of transportation, its services, and civil aviation, and ways to develop them. Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Canada H.E. Dr. Khalid bin Rashid Al-Mansouri and Director of Department of International Organizations, MOFA, H.E. Ambassador Ali bin Khalfan Al Mansouri, attended the meeting.

Minister Heads Qatar Delegation to 41st ICAO Assembly

Montreal - CanadaMinister of Transport H.E. Jassim Saif Ahmed Al-Sulaiti has headed the State of Qatar’s delegation to the 41st Session of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Assembly, which began at ICAO Headquarters in Montreal, Canada, attended by the ICAO’s 193 Member States, in addition to several international organizations.Addressing the Assembly’s first session, H.E. Al-Sulaiti said that Qatar is looking forward to becoming an ICAO Council member out of its firm belief it can contribute significantly to finding out solutions to the challenges that the aviation industry is facing nowadays and in the coming years, to serve the global aviation community.He also highlighted Qatar’s major and well-considered steps targeting achieving remarkable progress in the civil aviation industry by creating and modernizing a world-class infrastructure that can help achieve sustainable development and fulfil universal environmental standards, in step with the QNV2030 goals, let alone protecting lives and property, and providing safe air routes.The minister looked back on the national carrier’s and Qatari civil aviation sector’s milestones globally and humanitarianly during the Coronavirus pandemic. He also highlighted Qatar’s endeavors to provide civil aviation workforce in several countries with training and skills to increase their capacity to honor the ICAO’s Standards and Recommended Practices. This aims at enhancing civil aviation safety in those countries. Additionally, he tackled Qatar’s contributions supporting some of the ICAO’s programs.Minister Al-Sulaiti reaffirmed Qatar’s lasting commitment to embodying ICAO’s principles – the organization that aims for a safe, environmentally sound and sustainable development of the global civil aviation, in addition to continuing and further boosting its partnership with the ICAO and Member States.Qatar’s Ambassador to Canada H.E. Dr. Khalid bin Rashid Al-Mansouri, Director of Department of International Organizations, MOFA, H.E. Mr. Ali bin Khalfan Al Mansouri, Mr. Mohamed Faleh Alhajri, who is in charge of managing the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority (QCAA), and the Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to ICAO Mr. Eissa Abdullah Al Malki, attended the Session.Qatar earlier applied for an ICAO Council membership on Category C for a three-year term. Elections are to be held at the meetings of this 41st Assembly Session to elect only 36 countries to form up a fresh ICAO Council. Meetings continue until this October 7.Qatar joined the ICAO on Sept. 5, 1971 and has ever since contributed to supporting ICAO achieve its strategic objectives as well as several efforts to enhance the future of aviation industry.

The two ministers reviewed aspects of Qatar-India cooperation in the fields of air transportation services and civil aviation, and ways to develop them. The meeting was attended by Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Canada H.E. Dr. Khalid bin Rashid Al-Mansouri.

Minister Meets Bahamas Deputy PM, Somali Counterpart, Costa Rica ICAO Rep.

Montreal - Canada Minister of Transport H.E. Jassim Saif Ahmed Al-Sulaiti held separate meetings with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Investment and Aviation of The Commonwealth of The Bahamas Hon. I. Chester Cooper; Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation of the Federal Government of Somalia H.E. Fardowsa Osman Igaal; and the Permanent Representative of Costa Rica on the ICAO Council Mr. Guillermo Hoppe Pacheco. The meetings came on the sidelines of Qatar’s participation in the meetings of the 41st Session of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Assembly. During the three meetings, Qatar’s cooperation relations with the three nations in the fields of transportation, air transportation and civil aviation were reviewed, as well as ways to develop them.

MOT Participates in InnoTrans 2022 in Berlin

Berlin – GermanyMinistry of Transport has participated in the International Trade Fair for Transport Technology (InnoTrans 2022), which runs in Berlin from Sept. 20 to Sept. 23.Led by MOT’s Acting Assistant Undersecretary of Land Transport Affairs Eng. Hamad Essa Abdulla, the MOT delegation included several Qatar Rail representatives.The delegation attended the conference’s main session inaugurated by German Federal minister for digital and transport in attendance of chair of European Commission for Transport and several railroad and public transit experts and manufacturers.On the sidelines of the conference, MOT’s delegation held a series of meetings with some exhibitors to learn more about best standards and ecofriendly technology applied in railroad transport, public transit and smart mobility in order to reflect them on Ministry’s plans.
