Edoardo Rixi, via videoconferencing today.The two officials discussed bilateral cooperation in the areas of transportation, ports, and civil aviation, and ways to enhance them.
The Ministry of Transport has participated in the 25th Meeting of the GCC Undersecretaries of Ministries of Transport, held in Muscat, Oman. The Qatari delegation was headed by Mr. Hassan Al-Hail, Advisor to the Minister of Transport.The meeting discussed the latest updates regarding the GCC Railways Authority and work progress on the GCC railway project and the scheduled date to carry out and operate the project.The meeting also tackled several topics relative to the land transportation strategy, the GCC uniform system for universal land transportation, and other topics relating to maritime transportation and ports.
A UK Hydrographic Office delegation paid a visit to the MOT with a view of enhancing bilateral cooperation. The visiting delegation and MOT team of maritime specialists discussed exchanging expertise and knowledge on hydrography and on issuing approved navigational maps.

Qatar participated with a delegation from the Ministry of Transport in the International Association of Marine Aids to Navigation and Lighthouse Authorities conference held in the Japanese capital, Tokyo, in the presence of delegations of the organization's Member States. The Ministry's delegation was headed by Assistant Undersecretary of Maritime Transport, Dr. Saleh bin Fetais Al Marri. The conference reviewed several topics related to training, capacity building, and the development of ship traffic services, in addition to discussing the organization's general regulations.
