Doha – QatarMinister of Transport H.E. Jassim Saif Ahmed Al-Sulaiti met with Vice-President for Economic Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran H.E. Dr Mohsen Rezaei.The meeting was held in Ministry’s offices today. They reviewed ways to enhance Qatari- Iranian cooperation in the fields of transportation, its services, harbors, and civil aviation.Several Ministry officials, Iran’s Ambassador to Qatar H.E. Mr. Hamid Reza Dehghani, and the delegation accompanying the Iranian official attended the meeting.

Public Bus Infrastructure Program Wins Two Awards

Doha – QatarThe Ministry of Transport’s Public Bus Infrastructure Program has received an award from the London-based Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) in recognition of the excellence in applying state-of-the-art ecofriendly and design efficiency standards.The Program has also been awarded best project for transportation in Qatar in 2022 in the MEED Quality Awards for Projects from the Middle East Economic Digest. Furthermore, the Program has qualified for the final stage where candidate projects compete at the level of Middle East region, to be appreciated at a special awards event this Nov. 23 in Dubai.The Program includes 8 bus stations and 4 depots supported by over 650 electric charging units for e-bus operations and 4 Park & Ride parking lots to serve public transit users and support transportation operations during FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. It also includes establishing 2300 bus stops within and outside of Doha City, designed with best world standards and latest sustainable technologies.Moreover, the Program includes establishing a station and parking spaces for ferries on Doha coastline in various areas as part of MOT’s effort to provide a unique transportation network at the regional level that can support public transit in the coming years.MEED Quality Awards for Projects is an independently judged competition for projects completed in the GCC. Multiple GCC ministries and government bodies take part in it, as well as several international consulting firms and contracting companies that execute megaprojects in the GCC.

Minister Meets with AFCAC President

Montreal - Canada Minister of Transport H.E. Jassim Saif Ahmed Al-Sulaiti held talks with President of the African Civil Aviation Commission (AFCAC) H.E. Silas Udahemuka, and all aviation authority chiefs with AFCAC, on the sidelines of their participation in the 41st ICAO Assembly. They reviewed Qatar-AFCAC relations in civil aviation and ways to enhance them. They also discussed latest updates on the Qatar-African Cooperation Program with respect to raising the efficiency of human resources in the African continent, and enhancing cooperation frameworks with civil aviation authorities in African countries. International Organizations Department Director, MOFA, H.E. Ambassador Ali bin Khalfan Al Mansouri, and Mr. Mohamed Faleh Alhajri, who is in charge of managing Qatar Civil Aviation Authority (QCAA), attended the meeting.
