MOT Delegation Visits S. Korea’s MOF

An MOT delegation, headed by Assistant Undersecretary of Maritime Transport Affairs Dr. Saleh Bin Fetais Al-Marri, paid a visit to the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries of the Republic of Korea. The visit aimed at enhancing bilateral cooperation. MOT’s delegation also included several officials from Mwani Qatar.The delegation met with the Vice Minister of Oceans and Fisheries and Busan Port Authority CEO and discussed enhancing cooperation in maritime transportation, particularly in terms of smart technologies in the area of harbors.

QTerminals First in Gulf, Third in Asia on Compliance to SBTi Standards

The Ministry of Transport is proud to announce that QTerminals has become the first company in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region and third in Asia to have complied with the standards and recommendations of the Science-Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) within the maritime transport sector (ports and services). QTerminals has received SBTi accreditation for its commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions from its direct and indirect operations (Scopes 1 & 2) by 46.6% by 2030. This commitment aligns with the Qatar National Vision 2030's Environmental Development pillar, which focuses on preserving and protecting the environment, including air, land, marine, as well as biodiversity.The SBTi is a global effort launched in 2015 by the Global Joint Information Center, part of the World Wildlife Fund, the World Resources Institute, and the UN Global Compact, aiming to help companies develop their respective climate change projects using the latest climate science.QTerminals last month reported record productivity levels after handling 234.26 containers per hour, surpassing the previous record of 220.38, and also recorded the highest handling rate for TEUs in a single month.

Minister Meets with U.K. Counterpart

Minister of Transport H.E. Jassim Saif Ahmed Al-Sulaiti met with the UK Secretary of State for Transport H.E. Louise Haigh, as he participates in the Farnborough International Airshow.The two officials discussed the two friendly countries' cooperation ties in the areas of transport, mobility services, and civil aviation, and ways to enhance them.Mr. Mohammed Faleh Al-Hajri, in charge of managing Qatar Civil Aviation Authority (QCAA) and Qatar Airways CEO Eng. Badr Mohammed Al Meer attended the meeting.

MOT, Qatar Post Sign Postal Services Agreement

The Ministry of Transport and Qatar Postal Services Company (Qatar Post) today signed an agreement per which a unique package of postal services will be made available for beneficiaries of MOT’s land and maritime transportation digital services. As per the agreement, Qatar Post will provide postal room and network services, and delivery service for senior customers, aiming for efficient and reliable postal solutions to MOT’s beneficiaries, thereby fostering an excellent performance, faster transactions, simpler procedures, and less time and effort.The agreement was signed by Mr. Hassan Hassan Al-Hail, Advisor to the Minister of Transport, and Mr. Hamad Mohammed Al-Fahida, Chief Operating Officer of Qatar Post. Mr. Al-Hail said that the collaboration with Qatar Post will further promote MOT’s digital services system by creating the environment that best helps the public get their MOT-related services easily and efficiently. The agreement, he added, also supports the Ministry’s plans of continuing improving its services by making them simpler, and available and accessible anytime, anyplace, thereby triggering higher customer satisfaction. Mr. Al-Fahida stated, "We are pleased to cooperate with the Ministry of Transport in enhancing the customer experience by providing advanced and efficient digital postal services to the Ministry's customers. This collaboration will facilitate logistics and distribution operations in the land and maritime transport sectors."

MOT, Relevant Entities Wrap Up Maritime Inspection at Al Wakra

The MOT has conducted a new inspection campaign on maritime vessels at Al Wakra Port in collaboration with MOI’s General Directorate of Coasts and Borders Security, Ministry of Municipality, Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, and Qatar Tourism. The campaign aimed at ensuring that the maritime vessels meet all safety and legal requirements of all the entities represented in the campaign.Maritime professionals from MOT inspected safety and security equipment by making sure they are available and valid, as well as helmsmen’s compliance with all safety instructions as per the laws and regulations in place.

Minister Witnesses Qatar-U.S. MoU on Enhancing Civil Aviation Security

Minister of Transport H.E. Jassim Saif Ahmed Al-Sulaiti has witnessed the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the State of Qatar and the United States of America on enhancing civil aviation security between the two countries.The MoU was signed in the Ministry’s offices by Mr. Mohammed Faleh Alhajri, in charge of managing Qatar Civil Aviation Authority and U.S. Ambassador to the State of Qatar H.E. Timmy Davis.Following the signing ceremony, H.E. Minister Al-Sulaiti and H.E. Ambassador Davis discussed the two friendly countries’ relations in the areas of transportation, and civil aviation, and ways to enhance and develop them.   The meeting and the MoU signing ceremony were attended by several transportation officials from Qatar and the U.S.
