The Ministry of Transport is the official sponsor of the 3rd Qatar Supply Chain Management Conference (SCMC), organized by Dar Al Sharq Group. This came at a press conference today, where more details were also revealed about the event’s program and sessions.The MOT’s sponsorship of this event is aligned with its strategic plans aimed at developing the transportation system and providing the logistics services necessary for the supply chains, thereby enhancing the secure and safe importation and exportation of goods and commodities and supporting the national economy and trade exchange, Mr. Hamad Ali Al-Marri, Land Transport Licensing Department Director, MOT, said at the briefing.The event aims to gather the relevant parties and experts for dialogue, discussions and the exchange of views and insight on the latest developments related to the supply chains industry.Key topics include the supply chains in Qatar and the achievements and challenges, the role of digital transformation in facilitating supply chains and securing the flow of goods against global challenges, and examples of best global practices, including green practices.For this SCMC, Mwani Qatar is the strategic partner, GWC Logistics is the platinum sponsor, and Qatar Rail is the transport sponsor. The event is also supported by Qatar Chamber.

Ministry Takes Part in ITTC-2024 in Turkmenistan

The Ministry of Transport has taken part in the III International Exhibition and Conference “International Transport and Transit Corridors: Interconnection and Development – 2024” (ITTC-2024), organized by the Turkmenistan’s Agency for Transport and Communications in Ashgabat.Addressing Session 1; “Transport Transit Corridors and Intermodal Connectivity”, the Road Assets Section Head, MOT, Ms. Nayla Al Noaimi highlighted some of the key achievements on transportation, the Transportation Master Plan for Qatar 2050, and MOT’s plans aimed at enhancing the transportation and logistics services systems to further improve regional and international connectivity.ITTC-2024 covered numerous topics such as innovative financial mechanisms and investment opportunities to support sustainable infrastructure projects and strategies implementation, and the role of interregional transportation systems and the potential of seamless transportation across various modes.The event was attended by the Secretary General of the International Road Transport Union (IRU), the UN Secretary-General's Special Envoy for Road Safety, high-profile representatives of global bodies, and transportation department heads from some Arab and foreign countries.

Qatar Chairs ESCWA Committee on Transport and Logistics 25th Session

Qatar, represented by the Ministry of Transport, has chaired the meetings of the 25th Session of the Committee on Transport and Logistics of the UN Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), in Amman, Jordan.The session was attended by representatives of Arab transportation ministries, the Arab League, the WB, and transportation and logistics organizations.The meetings discussed the recommendations reported by the previous session to the ESCWA’s Executive Secretariate, and the latest regional developments with respect to transportation and logistics. It also discussed enhancing the cybersecurity in transportation industry, transportation and food security key issues, and the impact of the crisis in the Red Sea on the Arab economies.The session was also briefed on the ongoing negotiations regarding the negotiable cargo document, which is the first world document that covers international ground transportation, aiming to reach a uniform Arab stand.The meetings were chaired by the Land Transport Licensing Department Director, MOT, Mr. Hamad Ali Al-Marri.

Qatar Aircraft Accident and Incident Investigation Unit Signs Multilateral MoU to Join MENA ARCM

The Qatar Aircraft Accident and Incident Investigation Unit (QAAI) has signed a multilateral memorandum of understanding (MoU) to join the Middle East and North Africa Aircraft Accident and Incident Investigation Regional Cooperation Mechanism (MENA ARCM). This partnership seeks to strengthen regional collaboration and coordination in investigating aircraft accidents and incidents, thereby promoting safety and efficiency within the aviation industry.The MoU to access the MENA ARCM was signed by the Head of the QAAI, Mr. Ali Rashid AlKuwari, during the Sixth Meeting of the Committee of the MENA ARCM (MENA ARCM/6), which took place in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.The objective of this Memorandum of Understanding is to establish the terms of collaboration between the Parties to provide knowledge and expertise to enhance the effectiveness of aircraft accident and incident investigations, and to utilize the investigation results and safety research to improve aviation safety.In accordance with this Memorandum of Understanding, the parties involved will engage in cooperative efforts encompassing aircraft accident and incident investigations, training in investigative procedures, and the exchange of pertinent information and specialized knowledge. These endeavors will adhere to the established Standards and Recommended Practices as outlined in Annex 13 of the Chicago Convention.

Minister Meets with St. Kitts and Nevis’ Int’l Transport Minister

Minister of Transport H.E. Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulla bin Mohammed Al Thani met with the Minister of Tourism, Civil Aviation, International Transport, Employment and Labor, and Urban Development of Saint Kitts and Nevis H.E. Hon. Marsha Henderson, in the Ministry’s offices today.The two ministers discussed bilateral relations in the areas of transportation, mobility services, and civil aviation, and ways to enhance them, particularly in air transportation. Mr. Mohammed Faleh Al-Hajri, in charge of managing the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority (QCAA), and Mr. Royston Griffin, Head of the Civil Aviation Division of Saint Kitts and Nevis were in attendance.Following the meeting, the minister attended the initialing of an air services agreement, and an open skies memorandum of understanding, thereby expanding the network of world destinations of the flag carrier airlines of the State of Qatar.

HH the Amir Issues Amiri Order Reshuffling the Cabinet

HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani issued on Monday Amiri Order No. 2 of 2024, reshuffling the Cabinet.The order stipulates that the Cabinet shall be reshuffled as follows:1- HE Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman bin Hassan bin Ali Al-Thani as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defense Affairs.2- HE Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi as Minister of Social Development and Family.3- HE Lolwah bint Rashid bin Mohammed Al Khater as Minister of Education and Higher Education.4- HE Mansoor bin Ebrahim bin Saad Al Mahmoud as Minister of Public Health.5- HE Sheikh Faisal bin Thani bin Faisal Al-Thani as Minister of Commerce and Industry.6- HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah bin Mohammed Al-Thani as Minister of Transport.The Amiri Order is effective starting from the date of issue and is to be published in the official gazette.
