Doha Metro Green Line Test Operation Begins Tuesday

Doha – QatarThe Ministry of Transport and Communications announces that the test operation of the Doha Metro Green Line will start this Tuesday Dec. 10, which means test operations for all Doha Metro lines will have been conducted.Operation timings will be from Saturday through Thursday from 06:00 to 23:00. On Fridays, the operation timings will be from 14:00 to 23:00.Metrolink services will be available during these timings to transport passengers from and to metro stations from the areas near the stations. Available routes can be found at Qatar Rail application and the company’s website.

MOTC’s 7th National Cybersecurity Drill “Star 7” Begins

Doha – QatarThe events of the 7th National Cybersecurity Drill (Star 7) began on Sun. with participation from more than 900 professionals from 95 government and private entities across Qatar.Star 7, which continues until Dec. 5, is organized this year under the theme; “National Cyber Defenses: Know Your Adversaries” with various exercises that test entities’ preparedness to address and handle cyberattacks.The Ministry of Transport and Communications holds a national cybersecurity drill every year to achieve the objectives of the Qatar National Cybersecurity Strategy in terms of sharpening national cybersecurity capacity and boosting cyberattacks response preparedness like detecting, investigating, managing and responding to cyberbreaches.MOTC’s Assistant Undersecretary of Cybersecurity Mr. Eng. Khalid Al-Hashmi said that such national drills help measure the level of maturity across all institutions and entities in Qatar regarding defending their electronic assets and addressing weaknesses. These drills, he added, help diagnose exciting information security issues, suggest appropriate solutions and enhance the relevant policies and standards.The 7th National Cybersecurity Drill complements last year’s 6th National Cybersecurity Drill, which focused on securing major events from a cybersecurity standpoint with deeper details and more thorough exercises this year in preparation for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, said Eng. Nora Yousef Al-Abdulla, Director, Critical Information Infrastructure Protection at the Cyber Security Sector, MOTC.Star 7 scenarios were designed based on the outcomes of all previous exercises, in addition to other various cyberthreats that target Qatar and the region in general, she noted.Year after year, she said, the scenarios of each national drill are becoming closer to reality where problem solvers are divided into two teams; the operation team and the technology team with each of them having to face and address the challenge their own way separately but this year’s exercises are based on teamwork, which means the two teams will have to work together to take decisions together, thus giving a rapider response.

Ministry Organizes “FIRST Qatar TC 2019” WorkshopThe Ministry of Transport and Communications held the technical workshop “FIRST Qatar TC” in collaboration with FIRST (Forum for Incident Response and Security Teams), the premier organization of recognized global leaders in incident response.This is the second time Qatar has hosted this event. The first was held in 2007. This year’s edition coincides with the 7th Qatar National Cybersecurity Drill (Star 7), which takes place annually.In his welcome remarks, MOTC’s Assistant Undersecretary of Cybersecurity Mr. Eng. Khalid Al-Hashmi stressed the importance of cybersecurity and praised Qatar’s efforts in delivering secure online services while providing solutions to contribute to the realization of the national vision of cybersecurity.Annual national cybersecurity drills contribute effectively to raising the awareness and skills on cybersecurity nationwide, across all sectors and industries, with each year having its unique theme and exercises.The FIRST Qatar TC Workshop featured several international experts, specialists and representatives from MOTC, ITU, AICC and FIRST.

Edirne – TurkeyThe State of Qatar has taken part in the event that marked the completion of the Trans-Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP), which connects to the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline (TAP), in Edirne, Turkey, in the presence of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his Azeri counterpart Ilham Aliyev.HE Minister of Transport and Communications Jassim Saif Ahmed Al-Sulaiti headed the Qatari delegation to the event, which was also attended by Qatari Ambassador to Turkey HE Salem Mubarak Al Shafi and several ministers and officials from a number of countries.

Admission to MOTC’s “IT Digital Leadership Training Program” Now Open

Doha – QatarThe Ministry of Transport and Communications announces application for admission to the “IT Digital Leadership Training Program” is now open until this December 22.The “IT Digital Leadership Training Program” is a 6-month new training program developed for the first time in Qatar to fulfil the needs of the middle-management IT executives. It is designed to develop new digital skills for mid-tenured IT managers in Qatar while applying learnings within practical business contexts. It thus contributes to qualifying a new generation of IT leadership in Qatar in line with the overarching strategic objectives of the Qatar National Vision 2030.The new training program functions under the umbrella of the boarder Qatar Digital Government Training Program (QDGTP), which includes a number of specialized training programs for Qatari IT workers and specialists such as CTO Training Program and the IT Talent Program. These two programs have to date succeeded in attracting a significant number of Qatari professionals from multiple government entities.  The new program is available for Qatari IT professionals. Each candidate needs to be nominated by their organization’s management team. Additionally, the applicant must enjoy a professional level command in English with over 6 years of experience in IT domain or relevant work, but the candidate must have spent the last two years being in a managerial IT role commanding own team.Selected participants will go through an extensive leadership assessment to identify individual development needs. These needs are addressed at four in-person workshops revolving around digital leadership.Selected participants will be awarded to program completion certification dependent on their attendance of the workshops along with the mandatory capstone project. MOTC announces start of trial operation of Doha Metro Gold Line this Thursday

Doha – QatarThe Ministry of Transport and Communications (MOTC) has announced that the trial operation of the Doha Metro's Gold Line will start for the public this Thursday, November 21. The line extends from Ras Bouaboud Station to Al-Aziziyah Station.The Gold Line, which runs east to west across Doha, includes 11 stations namely: Ras Bouaboud, National Museum, Souq Waqif, Musheireb, Bin Mahmoud, Al Sadd, Sudan, Jawaan, Al Waab, Sports City, Aziziyah.Operation timings for the Gold Line will be the same as those for the Red Line - Saturday through Thursday from 06:00 to 23:00. Friday will be from 14:00 to 23:00.Doha Metro users can switch between the Red Line and the Gold Line at Musheireb Station.To cover a wider range and serve more neighborhoods and areas adjacent to the stations, new routes will be allocated to the Metro Link service, which is a shuttle bus service to transport passengers from neighboring areas to and from the metro stations.
