In attendance of HE Minister of Transport and Communications Jassim Saif Ahmed Al Sulaiti and HE Minister of Administrative Development, Labor and Social Affairs Dr. Issa bin Saad al-Jafali al-Nuaimi, “The Second National Autism Forum” opened today, October 9 and will continue for three days.
The Forum is held under the patronage of the Ministry of Transport and Communications. Qatar Assistive Technology Center (Mada) organized the event for the Qatar Autism Families Association under the theme “Challenges & Achievements.”
Held at Hilton Doha, the forum brings together local and global educators, researchers and specialists working in the field of autism.
Ms. Maha Al Mansoori, CEO of Mada, and Ms. Fatima Al Sulaiti, Chair of Qatar Autism Families Association, are among senior attendees.
The three-day awareness-raising event tackles key topics related to autism spectrum disorder, autism definitions, diagnosis and characteristics, as well as some of the facts and common misconceptions.
The forum features educators, researchers and specialists who will share their insight from scientific and educational standpoints. Genetics of autism, family lives, strategies and approaches, practical information and tips on challenging autism behaviors, fundamental parenting tools for positive behaviors and tips to develop autistic children’s communication skills, are among the forum’s interesting topics.
Autism is a lifelong, developmental disorder that affects the way a person communicates with and relates to people around, and the way they experience the world around them.
Noteworthy, Mada’s first autism forum, a two-day “Autism Parents’ Network Forum” was held in April 2014, themed “Comprehensive Care for Autism Families.”
