Doha-

In the context of the Coronavirus COVID19 response, Qatar, represented by the Ministry of Transport and Communications, participated in the COVID19 Cooperation – E-Leaders Videocall with the Paris-based Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).

The Acting Assistant Undersecretary of Government Information Technology Ms. Mashael Ali Al-Hammadi represented the Ministry at the meeting.

The event focused on the exchange of knowledge between countries with respect to the challenges associated with the COVID19 pandemic, and explored innovative digital government initiatives to overcome them. The meeting also discussed the most effective ways of cooperation between representatives of digital governments and how to harness technology solutions developed by OECD Member States.

In her presentation, Ms. Al-Hammadi highlighted Qatar’s innovative digital solutions in place to combat COVID19, particularly in healthcare and education, in addition to Qatar Digital Government’s key milestones in terms of easy communication and simple, fast and secure access to e-services; something which has enhanced the anti-COVID19 measures through QDG’s applications and services. This has made it easy for citizens and residents to continue working while maintaining social distancing and has facilitated teleworking for government employees.

Despite being an OECD non-member state, Qatar, represented by MOTC, has been invited to OECD digital government conferences due its recognized global role in the field.
