Port of Suakin Receives Tugboats, Container Cranes from Mwani Qatar

The Sudanese Port of Suakin has received a number of container cranes and tugboats from the Qatar Ports Management Company (Mwani Qatar) in implementation of the first phase of the MoU the company had signed with the Port of Port Sudan for developing the Port of Suakin with a view to making it a key seaport for cargo transportation.

On this occasion, Qatar’s Ambassador to Sudan HE Mr. Rashid bin Abdul Rahman Al Nuiami emphasized the strength of Qatari-Sudanese relations for which the foundations were laid down by HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and HE the Sudanese President Omer Hassan al-Bashir.

He said the cranes and tugboats are part of the capital allocated for developing the Port of Suakin.

“The Port of Suakin,” he added, “has comparative advantages. It supports exportation significantly, especially the economies of the African region.” He also stressed its importance and vital, strategic location, its connection to the Silk Road and uniqueness for being a very important meeting point for exportation, particularly for neighboring countries, which makes it a value added to the economies.
