Nominations Launched for 2019 Digital Government Excellence Awards

As part of the efforts committed by the Qatar Digital Government (QDG) Steering Committee to support digital transformation in Qatar, and in line with the objectives set by its 2020 Strategy, the Committee has opened the door for nominations for the 2019 Digital Government Excellence Awards. The purpose of these Awards is to highlight the best government entities that make outstanding achievements resulting in a significant transformation in the daily operations and growth of the nation's digital economy.
The Awards aim to instill a culture of excellence and positive competition between government entities in the field of digital transformation, by harnessing modern communication and information technologies in order to provide the best digital services and solutions to the public.
Government entities can submit their entries on the Awards portal: www.qatardigitalawards.gov.qa, after checking the categories for the relevant Award. Nominations can be submitted until 8 October 2019.
Commenting on this occasion, Mr. Hassan Jassim Al-Sayed, Assistant Undersecretary of Government Information Technology Sector, at the Ministry of Transport and Communications, said:
“This year, the Awards celebrate the innovation and excellence of the use of Information Technology (IT) in the government sector, as we believe that successful IT initiatives significantly encourage innovation and the enhancement of the institutional performance of government entities. In recognition of government entities’ contributions in Qatar’s digital empowerment, we invite all government institutions to participate in these prestigious Awards to highlight their key achievements that can contribute to the growth of the country’s digital economy and enable Qatar to be one of the leading global centers in the field of digital technology.”
Al-Sayed added: Entries will be evaluated and initiatives will be selected by a neutral panel of jury members, consisting of local and international experts in the e-government field, based on various criteria including innovation in delivering services, benefits offered to users, and the extent to which those services have achieved the targeted objectives.”
