New direct shipping service between Hamad Port and Sohar, Oman

As part of the efforts of the Ministry of Transport and Communications to build new partnerships to meet the growing needs of the local market and to strengthen Hamad Port as a vital business hub in the region, Qatar Ports Management Company, Mwani Qatar, has announced the launch of a new direct service between Hamad Port and Sohar Port, Oman. Operated under Milahas DMJ, the service will operate three times a week.

The launch of the new direct service was announced at a press conference held by Mwani Qatar today at Hamad Port.

“In light of the recent developments in the region, Mwani Qatar and its partners have ensured the business continuity of its ports and shipping operations in and out of Qatar to mitigate the impact of actions that may affect the imports and exports to and from the country”, stated Mwani Qatar.

“Mwani Qatar assures that business continues to progress at all its ports and our partners have added new services from around the world that will boost our regional and global trade”, said Captain Abdul Aziz al Yafei, Director of Hamad Port, in a speech at the press conference.

The company monitoring developments and is well equipped to ensure that the country’s requirements of food supplies, project cargoes and others are met efficiently, he added.

The Hansa Neuburg, a container ship that operates under the Milahas DMJ service from Sohar Port to Hamad Port, arrived at Hamad Port today bringing in different cargoes including 133 cold storage reefers containing food supplies. Further cargo shipments destined for Hamad Port are on route to Qatar and are scheduled to arrive within the week.

A total of 12 direct calls per month to Hamad Port from Sohar port have been added and Mwani Qatar reiterated its commitment to operate Qatar’s ports such as they provide a stable platform for the supply-chain.
