The Ministry of Transport and Communications (MOTC) is participating in the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) as part of the State of Qatar’s Pavilion at the Forum, which runs in the period from June 2 to June 5 under the auspices of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin.
MOTC’s participation in the Pavilion of the State of Qatar as the Guest Country at SPIEF in its 24th edition, comes within the framework of its keenness to enhance and develop economic relation ties and partnership with the Russian Federation, in addition to highlighting the investment opportunities that the country provides in the fields of transportation and information and communication technology, something which can contribute to attracting more foreign direct investments and boosting the State of Qatar’s competitive standing in the region and outside of it.
The Smart Qatar Program (TASMU), the Qatar Railways Company (Qatar Rail), Qatar Navigation (Milaha), Mwani Qatar, the Qatar Aeronautical Academy and Hamad International Airport will participate in the Forum under the umbrella of the Ministry. The Forum will provide an ideal platform for these companies for the exchange of expertise between the two friendly countries.
On this occasion, the Minister of Transport and Communications His Excellency Jassim Saif Ahmed Al-Sulaiti said, “Qatar has made enormous progress in the field of digital transformation and digital services using innovative initiatives and programs such as the Smart Qatar Program (TASMU) with the Ministry of Transport and Communications for building a diversified national economy and keeping pace with the latest digital skills toward building a smart Qatar, and, in addition to that, the country has taken notable steps in improving its global connection with world-class sea, land and air facilities.”
His Excellency the Minister added, “The St. Petersburg International Economic Forum is a very important global event and during our participation we are looking forward to working with our Russian counterparts to enhance the means of bilateral cooperation between the two countries in addition to shedding light on the investment opportunities that the country provides in the fields of transportation and information and communication technology.”
The TASMU Program will showcase the efforts exerted by the State of Qatar on the path of transforming into a smart country, in addition to pitching a number of investment opportunities to global companies and delegations to contribute to these efforts.
The TASMU Program has identified more than 100 opportunities that will be available for investment and cooperation during the next four years across the entire scope of work of the Program. Participating delegates will be able to view a number of these opportunities such as participating in developing the Symptom Tracker, the Athlete Performance Dashboard and the Livestock Monitoring & Analytics. These opportunities revolve around developing smart solutions and applications to address the national challenges in the key sectors using advanced technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain and Big Data Analytics and other advanced technologies.
The TASMU Program will also review, with the participating delegates, the TASMU Central Platform, which represents a one-of-its-kind solution in the field of developing smart cities, in addition to more than 20 opportunities that are available for cooperation in the field of providing consultancy and technical expertise during 2021 for supporting the TASMU Program’s 23 initiatives at the national level, including initiatives for developing the digital skills of workforce in the State of Qatar, Digital Inclusion and the Smart Qatar Policies and Standards, and other necessary initiatives that guarantee the transformation of the State of Qatar into a smart country as efficiently and rapidly as required.
This high-profile event year is one of the largest fora in the world concerned with the sectors of investment and economy. It is organized by the Roscongress Foundation of Russia. It will witness the participation of a number of their excellencies Heads of States, senior political and economic officials, in addition to representatives of leading Russian and international companies and multiple business leaders from around the world.
