MOTC, IMO in discussions on blockade of Qatar by three Gulf states

Doha, Qatar

The Ministry of Transport and Communications (MOTC) has been in discussions with the General Secretariat of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) concerning violations of international maritime agreements by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and the Kingdom of Bahrain, and the increasingly negative measures taken by these countries in imposing a shipping blockade of Qatar. The Ministry has highlighted not only the adverse commercial consequences of the blockade but also the dangers it is causing to the safety of shipping in the Gulf.

The IMO has now confirmed that it is setting up a team to investigate the violations.

The Ministry has expressed confidence in the international organizations that are working hard to implement their agreements and laws.
