MOTC Holds workshop on Port Security

The Ministry of Transport and Communications (MOTC) concluded a training workshop on Port Security for its employees and maritime specialists from relevant government entities across the country to train them on the International Ship and Port Facility Security Code (ISPS Code), inspired by the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS).
The five-day workshop was attended by several maritime specialists from the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Interior, and Qatar Petroleum, and the Qatar Ports Management Company (Mwani Qatar), in addition to a group of Maritime Transport Affairs employees at MOTC.
Delivered by a maritime security expert, the training workshop provided a detailed explanation of ISPS Code and the latest effective ways to implement its provisions, as it is the comprehensive mandatory security system for maritime transport globally in addition to its essential role in strengthening cooperation between contracting governments, government agencies, local administrations, and the shipping and port industry.
At the end of the workshop, MOTC’s Assistant Undersecretary of Maritime Transport Affairs Dr. Saleh bin Fetais Al Marri handed over workshop attendance certificates to the participants and thanked them for their participation in the workshop which will contribute to enriching their expertise and knowledge with regard to the ISPS Code, which enhances the plans to secure the upcoming 2022 World Cup.
