Ministry Wraps Up Workshop on Jurisdiction on Foreign Vessels

The Ministry of Transport has concluded its workshop; “Jurisdiction on Foreign Vessels in Qatari Waters” conducted from Jan. 10 to Jan. 12. The workshop was attended by several maritime professionals from Qatari Emiri Naval Forces and MOI’s General Directorate of Coasts and Borders Security. The training featured explanations on the maritime sites in Qatari waters, the legal scope of civil and criminal jurisdictions on foreign vessels, as well as the concepts of innocent passage, transit and free passage.
The Ministry pays considerable attention to continue upskilling maritime specialists across State entities. At the end of the workshop, MOTC’s Assistant Undersecretary, Maritime Transport Affairs, Dr. Saleh bin Fetais Al Marri handed over the training certificates to workshop attendees.
