The Ministry of Transport and Communications (MOTC) is organizing a training course on maritime safety equipment for vessels and procedures related to entering enclosed areas.
The course is part of a training platform that boosts ministry efforts to ensure safer shipping in Arabian Gulf area.
In addition to the ministry employees, a number of representatives from the Ministry of Interior and Qatar Petroleum are attending the course, which is being delivered under the Riyadh Memorandum of Understanding on Port State Control and extends to next Thursday (May 18).
The Riyadh Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is an agreement to achieve safe, secure and efficient shipping in the maritime jurisdictions in the Gulf region.
The Riyadh MoU, was signed in the Saudi capital in June 2004 by the six countries of the GCC (Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Saudi Arabia and UAE).
