Minister of Transport H.E. Jassim Saif Ahmed Al-Sulaiti has attended the opening session of the 17th edition of Middle East Rail, which opened at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center (ADNEC) in the UAE. The event is attended by several transportation ministers and chairpersons and CEOs of some of the world’s largest railroad companies, in addition to key figures and manufacturing companies’ representatives of transportation industry.
Highlighting aspects of ecofriendly and sustainable transportation, the May 15-16 event is a platform for government and private sectors to showcase their best practices in the field of railway networks and sustainable transit systems considering the visions of the Middle East, North Africa, and Asia region. It also aims at laying out plans and schemes for cooperation toward a better future in the railroad sector.
On the sidelines of his participation, Minister Al-Sulaiti visited the State of Qatar’s pavilion, which features the Ministry of Transport and Qatar Rail. The event’s exhibition features hundreds of exhibitors and some 6000 participants from around the world.
Qatar has over the past ten years seen a significant progress in the field of railroad transportation. Its metro and tram systems are among the most important modes of modern, sustainable, and ecofriendly transportation, integrated with the country’s public transit systems, thus supporting the Qatar National Vision 2030.
