Minister of Transport H.E. Jassim Saif Ahmed Al-Sulaiti met in Geneva with Executive Secretary of the UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) Ms. Olga Algayerova, on the sidelines of the 85th Session of the Inland Transport Committee (ITC) of the UNECE.

The two officials discussed enhancing Qatar-UN cooperation in the areas of transportation. They also discussed inland transportation solutions, particularly those relating to harnessing the potentials of transportation solutions in the global action against climate change.

During the meeting, Minister Al-Sulaiti highlighted the ecofriendly Transportation Master Plan for Qatar where sustainability is a key foundation. Qatar is one of the world’s high-ranking countries in the field of clean transportation thanks to providing an integrated, multimodal transit system with environment-conscious services such as the metro, trams, and e-buses, in addition to upgrading the specifications of truck and equipment engines to EURO5-equivalent clean diesel fuel, thus ensuring achieving the QNV2030.

Qatar’s Permanent Representative to the UN Office at Geneva H.E. Dr. Hend Abdalrahman Al-Muftah attended the meeting.
