Minister Meets with UN Special Envoy for Road Safety

Minister of Transport H.E. Jassim Saif Ahmed Al-Sulaiti met in Geneva with United Nations Secretary-General Special Envoy for Road Safety Mr. Jean Todt, on the sidelines of the 85th Session of the Inland Transport Committee (ITC) of the UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE).
They discussed enhancing Qatar-UN cooperation on road safety and pushing it up to new heights. They also reviewed latest developments with relation to road safety as per the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
In this regard, Minister Al-Sulaiti highlighted Qatar’s experience regarding improving road safety, and its significant achievements such as in traffic-related death rate, which has decreased in coincidence with Qatar’s application of its National Road Safety Strategy.
Qatar’s Permanent Representative to the UN Office at Geneva H.E. Dr. Hend Abdalrahman Al-Muftah attended the meeting.
