Hukoomi” Wins His Highness Sheikh Salem Al-Ali Al-Sabah Informatics Award

The Qatar Official e-Government Portal (Hukoomi) has won 17th His Highness Sheikh Salem Al-Ali Al-Sabah Informatics Award, among other winners, on the “Government Sector” category.
Nine tech projects from Gulf countries have won the Awards in its 17th edition and they are going to be honored at the annual ceremony in Kuwait this Nov. 29.
“We are glad Hukoomi had won this award in appreciation of the efforts of the Ministry of Transport and Communications to upgrade the portal by enabling and installing the latest technologies. I’m looking forward to more achievements that contribute to Qatar’s higher rankings at all levels,” said Mr. Hassan Jassim Al-Sayed, the Ministry’s Assistant Undersecretary of Government Information Technology Sector.
“Today, Hukoomi, in its latest version, is rich with information about at least 1380 digital services. Some 690 of them can be accessed and executed by companies, citizens, residents, and visitors. They cover multiple sectors such as health, education, and business,” he added.
Hukoomi is a user-friendly portal with enhanced search functions, he noted, adding that the portal is also accessible by peoples with disabilities and contains a special section on laborer services readable in five languages, in addition to several advanced features that make it easy to browse the portal on mobile phones for the best user experience.
The number of Hukoomi portal visitors is growing. Latest information puts the number of Hukoomi visitors at more than 450,000 from nearly 180 countries and its account followers also climbed to nearly 60,000 on Facebook and 200,000 on Twitter.
The His Highness Sheikh Salem Al-Ali Al-Sabah Informatics Award was first launched in 2001 to promote online knowledge and develop human capacity in the realm of informatics. It includes three sections. The Kuwait Award is focused on Kuwaiti society; individuals, government and nongovernment entities as well as citizens and non-Arab residents. The Arab World Award is open to individuals and organizations from all Arab countries. The Appreciation Award is dedicated to individuals and organizations from Kuwait and the Arab countries in general for distinguished projects, initiatives, and milestones in the realm of informational development.
