HE Minister of Transport and Communications Jassim Saif Ahmed Al Sulaiti is heading the Qatari delegation to the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation which is being held on May 14–15, 2017 in Beijing, China.
The international forum was inaugurated by HH Chinese President Xi Jinping, with representatives from over one hundred countries, including 29 heads of state or government. International organizations will also be represented, with UN Secretary General António Guterres, President of the World Bank Jim Yong Kim, and Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund Christine Lagarde all set to attend.
The forum aims at expanding relationships between Asia, Africa and Europe in the field of infrastructure, and reflects the major Chinese project to revive the commercial Silk Road. Delegates held sessions on Sunday to discuss the Silk Road project in detail, including options for finance and trade.
