HE Minister Launches “Guide to Ethical Responsibility in the Digital World”

HE Minister of Transport and Communications today launched a “Guide to Ethical Responsibility in the Digital World”, which was developed by the Ministry of Transport and Communications as part of its Akhlaki Qatar campaign.

This came during the “Digital Ethics Forum in the Digital World” the Ministry organized today in collaboration with Government Communication Office. The event was attended by a number of Their Excellencies sheikhs, ministers, dignitaries, influencers, media personalities and chief executive officers of some institutions.

In two sessions, the forum addressed ethical responsibility in the digital world, the need to practice ethics, high values and the preservation of national identity when communicating online. It also featured the meaning of digital citizenship, the importance of preserving morality, especially in the circumstances of the current siege, and how it was the practice of ethics in the political discourse through the media and modern communication channels, and the role of Qatari public figures and influential people present in the means of social communication in maintaining Qatari national values.

In his inaugural address, Minister of Transport and Communications HE Jassim Saif Ahmed Al Sulaiti, said: “Dignity and self-respect are part of this nation’s identity and an integral part of its identity, which has become more evident today than ever. We are proud of this nation, and of its moral values. The responsibility comes so that our behavior becomes not only an indicator of shouldering responsibility, but also a reflection of the extent to which we maintain and cherish the high values, moral values that are part of our identity and our religion. We, the people of Qatar, are proud of this nation, and of its moral values.”

The Minister also recalled the speech of the Emir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, at the United Nations, when the Emir said: “The Qatari people have maintained their high morals despite the ruthlessness of the campaign against them and against their country.” And that “our society has achieved great success in a real moral test.”
