HE The Minister Delivers QITCOM 2017 Closing Speech

Concluding Qatar’s largest ICT conference, QITCOM 2017, HE Minister of Transport and Communications Jassim Saif Ahmed Al Sulaiti said that QITCOM 2017 was a unique platform where all stakeholders and participating parties were able to participate in discussions on creativity, innovation, awareness raising and cooperation, to generate more ideas to transfer smart city concepts into a tangible reality

In his closing remarks at QITCOM2017 Gala Dinner, Al-Sulaiti said that during QITCOM 2017 we succeeded in signing and announcing more than 70 agreements and announcements for new programs and initiatives to further develop the ICT sector, toward achieving the vision of building a smart future.

“Under the wise leadership of H.H the Emir Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani, "may God preserve him," and the follow-up and supervision of H.E Sheikh Abdullah Bin Nasser Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Qatar had made a remarkable progress in the use of digital technology to achieve its social, economic and environmental goals,” he added.

The government is committed to investing in Smart Qatar Program “Tasmu” and building the required national capabilities to support the development of the digital industry, he noted.

After the closing remarks, the minister awarded the winning organizations in three prestigious awards, namely: QITCOM 2017 Exhibition Award; Qatar IT Business Awards 2017 and Qatar Digital Government Excellence Awards.

With many organisations vying for the coveted annual recognition award, the following organisations were the winners of the Qatar IT Business Awards 2017 awards:

Service Provider of the Year - Ideal Solution Company

Cloud Service Provider of the Year – Qatar Mobility Innovations Centre
Best Digital SME of the Year – Q Tickets
Best Mobile Application of the Year – Mannai Trading and Qatar National Bank (QNB)
Smart Solution of the Year – Hamad International Airport
Tech Startup of the year – MaktApp

The following organisations were the winners of Qatar Digital Government Excellence Awards:

Ministry of Interior: awarded the Best Digital Services for Business, Best Digital Service through Mobile Applications, the Second Best Digital Service for Citizens, Best Government Website, Best Digital Project and Best Government Entity in Digital Transformation
Qatar Railways Company: awarded the Best Government Website
General Authority of Customs: awarded the Best Digital Project
Ministry of Municipality and Environment: awarded the Best Government Entity in Digital Transformation and the third Best Digital Service through Mobile Applications and Best Digital Services for Government
Public Works Authority: awarded Best Digital Services for Government
General Retirement and Social Insurance Authority: awarded the Second Best Digital Services for Business
Ministry of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs:  awarded the Third Best Government Entity in Digital Transformation
