Doha-Qatar
THE 5th Global Aviation Training and Trainair Plus Symposium, organised by Qatar Aeronautical College in cooperation with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), will begin in Doha on December 10.
The three-day symposium will provide a platform to all ICAO members to discover new programme features and benefits, develop new business opportunities and promote their training organisation and products. A large number of companies and institutions are expected to attend this year's event. Prominent among the institutions that will attend are International Air Transport Association (IATA) and the Airports Council International (ACI).
On this occasion, Minister of Transport and Communications HE Jassim bin Saif Ahmed al Sulaiti expressed his pleasure over Qatar's hosting of the international event, welcoming all participants to Qatar. He said that Qatar Aeronautical College's hosting of the 5th Global Aviation Training Symposium will contribute to its strategic vision to develop the human element of this vital sector in the State of Qatar and in the region, as the event will see a distinguished presence of international aviation experts who will shed light on the industry's best practices.
Sulaiti stressed the ministry's commitment to providing the necessary support to ICAO in assisting different countries around the world when they are applying their international standards in civil aviation and recommended practices.
On his part, Director-General of Qatar Aeronautical College HE Sheikh Jabor bin Hamad al Thani praised the hosting of the 5th Global Aviation Training and Trainair Plus Symposium, saying the event will help focus a spotlight on the college's work academically.
On her part, Secretary-General of ICAO Dr Fang Liu said that the event will provide an opportunity for debate among the member states, who will meet with representatives of aviation-training specialised organisations to explore and build global partnerships while increasing their knowledge and awareness of key priorities for short- and long-term capacity building and skills in the field of air transport.
She added that this year's symposium will focus on building aviation training intelligence. She pointed out that in today's world of information abundance, data collected through various sources need to be structured and managed in a coherent way, in order to generate decision-useful information.
The symposium is open to members of the TRAINAIR PLUS Programme (TPP), all industry stakeholders and academic institutions. The TPP programme includes more than 90 training centres in 70 ICAO member states.
