MOT to Host 2nd Autonomous e-Mobility Forum in April

The Ministry of Transport is hosting the 2nd edition of the Autonomous e-Mobility Forum this April 7-9, at the Qatar National Convention Center (QNCC).Organized by Just us & Otto Marketing Services, the 2026 Forum will highlight some of the latest trends and innovations in sustainable transportation. MOT Celebrates QND 2025

The Ministry of Transport today celebrated the Qatar National Day 2025 with a special event attended by Minister of Transport H.E. Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulla bin Mohammed Al Thani, heads of transportation industry’s entities, and Ministry employees.The event, held in front of the façade of the Ministry’s headquarters, featured several activities that reflected part of the rich Qatari identity and cultural heritage.

MOT Announcement – December 2025

Considering Qatar National Day celebrations, and as part of national measures to support public safety and security, the Ministry of Transport calls upon maritime vessel owners, be they individuals or companies, to suspend maritime navigation as well as maritime vessel leasing (pleasure crafts, tourism, fishing, scooters, and the like) in the Doha area, specifically from Hamad International Airport to Sheraton Doha Hotel.This circular takes effect from 06:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 16, through 08:00 a.m. on Friday, December 19, 2025.The Ministry urges all to abide by this circular and cooperate for the success of QND events.

MOT Attends IALA Council Meeting in Mumbai

The MOT, with a team headed by Asst. Undersecretary of Maritime Transport Affairs Eng. Abdulaziz Abdulla Al-Sulaiti, has taken part in the 3rd IALA Council Meeting in Mumbai, India.Key topics discussed included developing NAVAIDs, advancing digital transformation of navigation services, exchanging navigation data, and harnessing advanced technologies.It also discussed the areas associated with training programs and capacity building aimed at boosting navigation’s safety and efficiency at the national and global levels.

High-Speed Electric Rail Project for Passengers between Qatar and Saudi Arabia Strategic Step to Enhance Cooperation, Developmental Complementarity

The high-speed electric rail project for the transportation of passengers between the State of Qatar and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is a strategic step as part of the two countries’ effort to enhance cooperation and developmental complementarity and advance sustainable development and mutual commitment toward broader horizons of development and prosperity in the region.The high-speed train will span 785 kilometers; linking the two capital cities Doha and Riyadh, while spreading across several regions like Al-Hofuf and Dammam, and linking Hamad International Airport with King Salman International Airport, thus constituting a new artery for rapid and sustainable mobility and improving regional travel experience with a speed of more than 300 kilometers per hour. That said, the train will cut the travel time between Doha and Riyadh to two hours, something which supports mobility, enhances business and tourism, advances economic growth, and contributes to improving the quality of life.Over 10 million passengers are expected to ride the train every year, who thus will be able to explore the landmarks of the State of Qatar and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, easily and seamlessly. The project would also contribute to providing more than 30,000 direct and indirect jobs.The project, when complete, is expected to generate some 115 billion riyals in revenues for the GDP of both countries, making it one of the most strategic projects that support regional development and cement connectivity and integration among the GCC countries via a modern railway network.The project is estimated to take six years to complete in accordance with highest international quality and safety standards with best technologies in the realms of railroads and smart engineering to ensure safe and seamless operations, thus achieving environmental sustainability, reducing carbon emissions, and advancing the efforts of promoting the switch to more efficient and creative modes of smart and sustainable mobility in the region.Video Overview: Qatar–Saudi High-Speed Electric Rail – Click Here

Qatar, Panama Sign MoU on Mutual Recognition of Seafarer’s Certificates

The State of Qatar and the Republic of Panama have signed a Memorandum of Understanding on mutual recognition of seafarer’s certificates.The MoU was signed by Minister of Transport H.E. Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulla bin Mohammed Al Thani and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Panama H.E. Carlos Arturo Hoyos.The MoU comes within the framework of carrying out the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW Convention), an international treaty established by the IMO, and its amendments. The MoU helps advance both countries’ commitment to best international standards in the field.This Memorandum applies to the certificates of seafarers who serve on registered merchant ships of any of the two parties and sail under its flag except for those who serve on the ships mentioned in Article 3 of the STCW Convention, with an affirmation that this MoU does not contradict the local laws of the two countries.Following the signing ceremony, the two officials discussed aspects of bilateral cooperation in transportation industry and advancing them.
