The Autonomous e-Mobility Forum Unveils its Program and International Speakers Lineup

The Autonomous e-Mobility (AEMOB) Forum, held under the patronage of H. E. Jassim Saif Ahmed Al-Sulaiti, Minister of Transport, and hosted by its strategic partner, the Ministry of Transport (MOT) of the State of Qatar, revealed its final program and speakers lineup in a press conference held at the Ministry on Monday, 22 April.The list of sponsors of the event so far includes more than 20 prominent sponsors and partners, including Mowasalat Company (Karwa), the forum’s transportation partner, Qatar Railways Company (Rail) and Microsoft Corporation as gold sponsors, Al Jaidah Group and the Qatar Free Zones Authority as silver sponsors, and Al Abdul Ghani Motors, QTerminals, Uber and DHL were bronze sponsors of the event, along with a number of bodies, companies and other entities representing the public and private sectors.The forum attracts more than 40 speakers from 20 countries from around the world, including policy makers, representatives of government agencies, academics, industry experts, engineers, consultants and prominent leaders, to present their visions and ideas and exchange experiences on a number of important topics in the field of electric transportation and self-driving mobility during the forum’s activities. This gives participants a unique opportunity to benefit from their experiences and knowledge.The forum will include keynote speeches, presentations and panel discussions with the participation of a group of experts, in addition to an accompanying exhibition highlighting the innovations of international and regional companies involved in this field, making the forum a unified platform for dialogue and exchange of ideas about the potential of autonomous technology and e-mobility ecosystems and their impact on societies in the world from the perspective of Technology, research and policy.On this occasion, MOT’s Acting Assistant Undersecretary of Land Transport Affairs Eng. Hamad Essa Abdulla, said, “The world faces a critical turning point with regard to fulfilling the pressing need for sustainable transportation solutions. Autonomous e-vehicles are among the promising alternatives in this field. They represent a paradigm shift and transformative trend in the area of transportation since the future of e-vehicles complies with global sustainability efforts as they can help reduce emissions, enhance energy consumption efficiency, and provide innovative mobility solutions, something which significantly contributes to combating climate change.”In step with that global trend, he added, Qatar has gone a long way in implementing the strategy of the gradual transitioning to e-vehicles and expanding their use. More than 70% of public bus fleet has been transitioned to electric and the plan is to increase that percentage gradually to 100% by 2030, he said.“MOT’s hosting of that event aims at providing an ideal platform to bring together key industry leaders, policymakers, senior officials, experts, speakers, as well as representatives from ministries, government entities, the private sector, academia, and international stakeholders, to foster knowledge, exchange expertise, explore collaboration opportunities, and put together recommendations on the real and practical future of operating electric and autonomous vehicles,” he added.        On this occasion, Mr. Ahmad Hassan Al Obaidly, Mowasalat (Karwa) CEO, said: “We are proud to be the official transport partner for this high-level event. At Mowasalat (Karwa), electric and sustainable mobility solutions are always at the forefront of our efforts, where the topic of autonomous electric transport is a future topic that must be addressed for the benefit of the entire region. Minister Signs MoU on Co-op between States Participants on Development Road Project, Al-Faw Port Development

The State of Qatar has signed in Baghdad a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for joint cooperation on the Development Road Project and the development of Al-Faw Port between the Governments of the Republic of Iraq, the United Arab Emirates, and the Republic of Turkey, which are the Participants of this leading project.The signing ceremony was attended by the Iraqi Prime Minister H.E. Mohammed Shia' Al Sudani and Turkish President H.E. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.The MoU was signed by Qatar Minister of Transport H.E. Jassim Saif Ahmed Al-Sulaiti, Iraqi Minister of Transport H.E. Razzaq Muhaibas Al-Saadawi, U.A.E. Minister of Energy and Infrastructure H.E. Suhail Mohamed Al Mazrouei, and Turkish Minister of Transport and Infrastructure H.E. Abdulkadir Uraloğlu.The MoU aims at supporting economic integration among these countries, connecting the East with the West, and enhancing global trade between the countries and world countries.The "Development Road" represents a comprehensive strategic project that meets the ambitions of the Participants to promote ties through the commercial exchange, industrial projects, and multiple and diverse transport lines.The project is to create a land route and railway extending from Iraq to Turkey and its ports. The road and the railway are 1200 kilometers long inside of Iraq for the transporting of goods between Europe and the Gulf countries. The project’s investment budget stands at roughly $17 billion. The project is to be carried out in three phases; the first to be completed in 2028, the second in 2033, and the third in 2050.

Minister Attends Qatar-Libya Air Services Agreement, MoU Signing Ceremony

Minister of Transport H.E. Jassim Saif Ahmed Al-Sulaiti witnessed the signing ceremony of an update to the air services agreement signed by the State of Qatar and the State of Libya on April 28, 2004. The update further liberalizes the provisions of the agreement commensurate with the developments of the civil aviation industry.H.E. the Minister also witnessed the signing ceremony of a bilateral Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), allowing the two countries’ national carriers to operate an unlimited number of passenger and cargo flights weekly with any types of airplanes without restrictions.The agreement update and the MoU come in the context of connecting Qatar with more air services agreements, allowing the Qatari national carrier to expand its network and fly to more destinations worldwide.The two pacts were signed with initials at the Ministry’s offices today by Mr. Mohammed Faleh Alhajri, in charge of managing the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority (QCAA), and H.E. Dr. Mohammed Shalibak, Head of the Libyan Civil Aviation Authority.Following the signing ceremony, Minister Al-Sulaiti and Dr. Shalibak discussed Qatari-Libyan relations in the fields of civil aviation, and ways to further enhance them.Ambassador of the State of Libya in Doha H.E. Mohammed Mustafa Al Saghir Al Lafi attended the signing ceremonies and the meeting.

Minister Attends Ministerial Session at ICAO Int’l Civil Aviation Conf.

Minister of Transport H.E. Jassim Saif Ahmed Al-Sulaiti has participated in the Ministerial Session held on the sidelines of the International Civil Aviation Conference organized by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) in Seoul, South Korea. The ICAO Secretary General H.E. Juan Carlos Salazar was in attendance.The meeting discussed ICAO’s efforts to develop air navigation’s foundations and technologies, planning, as well as developing the air transportation industry for ensured safety, security, and growth, in addition to discussing the topics that can enhance the environmental and sustainable development of the global civil aviation industry.
