Ministry Expands Lusail Tram Service, Pink & Orange Lines Operational

The Ministry of Transport is expanding the service of the Lusail Tram starting this Monday, April 8. The MOT will operate the Pink Line service and all the Orange Line stations.Ten new Orange Line stations are coming to service: Naifa, Fox Hills – South, Downtown Lusail, Al Khayl Street, Fox Hills – North, Crescent Park – North, Rawdat Lusail, Erkiyah, Lusail Stadium, and Al Yasmeen.All Pink Line stations are to be operated in this phase as well, from Legtaifiya to Seef Lusail – North, except for Al Sa’ad Plaza, which will come to service later. The Pink Line service in operation will include 10 stations. By so doing, the number of new stations to come to service rises to 14, taking the total number of operational stations in Lusail Tram to 21.Lusail Tram service runs 7 days a week with the same service hours as the Doha Metro: Saturday through Wednesday from 05:30 a.m. to 12:00 midnight. On Thursdays, the service runs from 05:30 a.m. 01:00 a.m. and on Fridays from 02:00 p.m. to 01:00 a.m.With the Pink Line service and Orange Line stations coming to service, the public will be able to use the tram to travel directly to several areas and destinations in Lusail, including Al Seef, the Crescent Park, Lusail Boulevard, Al Maha Island, and others, as well as connect to the Metro network via Legtaifiya Station.This comes in consistent with MOT’s plans of providing an integrated, sustainable, ecofriendly, and multimodal public transit system.

QA Wins Minister of Transport 3rd Padel Cup

Minister of Transport H.E. Jassim Saif Ahmed Al-Sulaiti today crowned the Qatar Airways team as champions of the third edition of the Minister of Transport’s Padel Championship Cup after their outstanding performance before the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority team. The QA team defeated QCAA 2-0 in the final faceoff held in Padel-In Aspire Zone amid large fan attendance. QA team was in full control and ended all the matches excellently.Minister Al-Sulaiti also appreciated the tournament sponsors: the two Official Sponsors Mwani Qatar and QTerminals, and the Gold Sponsor Milaha. He then awarded the two teams. The final match was attended by Minister of Environment and Climate Change H.E. Dr. Abdulla bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Subaie, who is also the Managing Director and CEO of Qatar Rail, H.E. Sheikh Jabor Bin Hamad Al-Thani, Director General of the Qatar Aeronautical Academy, Mwani Qatar’s CEO Capt. Abdulla Mohamed Al-Khanji, Group CEO of Milaha Mr. Fahad Saad Al Qahtani, Acting CEO of Mowasalat (Karwa) Mr. Ahmad Hassan Al Obaidly, and several officials from the MOT and transportation industry.“We are pleased to have organized the Minister of Transport’s Ramadan Padel Championship Cup for the third year in a row, particularly as this tournament comes in response to staff desire at entities working in the transportation sector,” said the tournament manager Mr. Ali Al-Emadi.Al-Emadi said that they look forward to organizing another excellent tournament next year. This tournament, he said, embodies the strong partnership amongst transportation entities across Qatar, as it constitutes an opportunity for the players of the participating entities to develop their skills in this game. This year’s championship featured 37 teams from 9 transportation entities: the MOT, Mwani Qatar, QTerminals, Milaha, Qatar Airways, QCAA, Qatar Aeronautical Academy, Mowasalat (Karwa), and Qatar Rail, which had significant contribution to the previous two editions of the tournament.

Minister of Transport H.E. Jassim Saif Ahmed Al-Sulaiti met with Minister of Transport and Aviation of the Republic of Sierra Leone Hon. Alhaji Fanday Turay.The two ministers discussed cooperation relations in the fields of mobility and transportation services and ways to take them to broader horizon in the areas of air transportation, training, and enhancing technical capacity building in civil aviation. Mr. Mohammed Faleh Alhajri, in charge of managing Qatar Civil Aviation Authority and the delegation accompanying Sierra Leone’s Minister attended the meeting.

3rd Minister of Transport Padel Cup Begins March 12

The organizing committee of the Minister of Transport’s Ramadan Padel Championship Cup revealed the details of the 3rd edition of the tournament. Organized by the MOT, this edition has 37 teams representing Qatar’s transportation entities.The committee said in a press conference, held at Padel In Aspire, this 3rd edition will run from March 12 to March 19, at the Padel In Aspire courts. The teams are MOT, Mwani Qatar, Qatar Airways, QCAA, QTerminals, Mowasalat (Karwa), Milaha, and Qatar Rail, which had significant contribution to the previous two editions of this tournament.In this 3rd Ramadan edition, Mwani Qatar and QTerminals are the Official Sponsors. Qatar Navigation Company (Milaha) is the Gold Sponsor. Qatar Airways is the Silver Sponsor.“We are pleased to have organized the Minister of Transport’s Ramadan Padel Championship Cup for the 3rd year in a row, especially since this tournament is all about a new sport that has gained rapid popularity in the country and responds to the desires of the employees of the entities working in the transportation sector,” said Manager of the Minister of Transport Padel Championship Cup Ali Al-Emadi.He said that they look forward to organizing another excellent tournament to be added to a record of successful Ramadan sporting tournaments we organized over the past years. Christophe Lutundula Pen'Apala, in Ministry offices today. The two officials reviewed bilateral relations between both countries and discussed aspects of cooperation in the fields of transportation, mobility, ports and civil aviation, and ways of further enhancing them.
