HE the Minister Witnesses Signing of Postal Cooperation Agreement with Turkey PTT

Doha – Qatar (October 4, 2016) HE Minister of Transport and Communications Jassim Saif al Sulaiti participated in the 26th Universal Postal Union (UPU) Congress in Istanbul on Tuesday.The meeting discussed the current state and future of the global postal sector and focused particularly on discussing the World Postal Strategy 2017-2020.On the sidelines of the congress, HE the Minister witnessed the signing ceremony of a postal cooperation agreement between the Qatar Postal Services Company (Q-Post) and the national post and telegraph directorate of Turkey (PTT). The event was also attended by Turkish Minister of Transport, Maritime and Communications Ahmet Arslan. The cooperation will be in mail and packages, electronic and secure banking services.The agreement was signed by the Chairman and Managing Director of Q-Post Faleh Mohammed al Nuaimi and the PTT Chairman of the Executive Board and Director-General Kenan Bozgeyik. The Qatari Ambassador to Turkey HE Mr. Salem Mubarak Al Shafi also attended the signing ceremony and a number of senior officials from the two companies.

HE the Minister Meets with Turkish Counterpart

Istanbul - Doha (October 4, 2016) HE Jassim Saif Ahmed Al Sulaiti, Minister of Transport and Communications, met Tuesday with his Turkish counterpart, Minister of Transport, Maritime and Communications Ahmet Arslan. HE Minister Al Sulaiti is in Turkey to participate in the 26th Universal Postal Union (UPU) Congress in Istanbul.The meeting discussed the bilateral relations between the two friendly countries in the fields of transportation, mobility and information and communication technology, and means of further enhancing them.The meeting was attended by the Qatari Ambassador to Turkey HE Salem Mubarak Al Shafi, members of the delegation accompanying HE the Minister and a number of senior officials from the Turkish Ministry of Transport, Maritime and Communications.

HE the Minister Receives Missive from UAE Minister of Infrastructure Development

Doha – QatarHE Minister of Transport and Communications Jassim Saif Ahmed Al Sulaiti received a written message from HE Dr. Abdullah Al Nuaimi, Minister of Infrastructure Development and Chairman of the Federal Transport Authority – Land & Maritime in the UAE.The message was delivered by HE the UAE Ambassador to Qatar Saleh Mohammed bin Nasra Al Ameri during his meeting with HE Minister Al Sulaiti here today.The meeting discussed the bilateral relations between the two sisterly countries in the fields of transportation and communications, and means of further enhancing them.

HE the Minister Heads Qatar Delegation to 20th Session of Council of Arab ICT Ministers

HE Minister of Transport and Communications Jassim Saif Ahmed Al Sulaiti led the Qatari delegation to 20th Session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Communication and Information that was held in Abu Dhabi on September 27-28.The session discussed the new structure of the Council’s Executive Office, which the State of Qatar has joined.The 20th session discussed several issues of common interest for the Arab countries such as the Arab Regional Roadmap for Internet Governance, regional linkage for Arab Internet networks, the post and the 2nd Regional Forum for “Digital Arabic Content.”Other key topics included cybersecurity, cybercrimes and Arabic domain names project.

HE the Minister Meets with Burkina Faso Counterpart

Doha – QatarHE Minister of Transport and Communications Jassim Saif Ahmed Al Sulaiti met here with Burkina Faso Minister of Transport, Urban Mobility and Road Safety HE Mr. Souleymane Soulama.The two officials discussed means of boosting bilateral relations between the two friendly countries in the fields of transportation and aviation.In addition to the delegation accompanying HE Minister Soulama, the meeting was attended by HE Mr. Akbar Al Baker, Group Chief Executive, Qatar Airways, HE Mr. Adama Compaore, Burkina Faso Ambassador to Qatar.

HE the Minister Meets with European Commission Delegation

Doha – QatarHE Minister of Transport and Communications Jassim Saif Ahmed Al Sulaiti met here Tuesday with a European Commission delegation who are participating in the first round of the comprehensive aviation agreement negotiations between the State of Qatar and the EU.The delegation was headed by Mr. Carlos Bermejo Acosta, Head of Unit, International Transport Affairs, Directorate-General for Mobility and Transport.The meeting discussed cooperation ties in the field of civil aviation and means of further enhancing them, as well as boosting bilateral relations at large between Qatar and the EU.The meeting was attended by HE Mr. Akbar Al Baker, Group Chief Executive, Qatar Airways, HE Mr. Abdulla bin Nasser Turki Al Subaey, Chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), and members of the European delegation.
