Minister Witnesses Qatar-U.S. MoU on Enhancing Civil Aviation Security

Minister of Transport H.E. Jassim Saif Ahmed Al-Sulaiti has witnessed the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the State of Qatar and the United States of America on enhancing civil aviation security between the two countries.The MoU was signed in the Ministry’s offices by Mr. Mohammed Faleh Alhajri, in charge of managing Qatar Civil Aviation Authority and U.S. Ambassador to the State of Qatar H.E. Timmy Davis.Following the signing ceremony, H.E. Minister Al-Sulaiti and H.E. Ambassador Davis discussed the two friendly countries’ relations in the areas of transportation, and civil aviation, and ways to enhance and develop them.   The meeting and the MoU signing ceremony were attended by several transportation officials from Qatar and the U.S.

Minister Receives Missive from Egypt Civil Aviation Minister

Minister of Transport H.E. Jassim Saif Ahmed Al-Sulaiti received a missive from Minister of Civil Aviation of the Arab Republic of Egypt H.E. Mohamed Abbas Helmy, on cooperation between the two brotherly countries in the areas of transportation, ports and civil aviation, and ways of further enhancing it. The missive also included an invitation to Egypt International Airshow (EIAS), to be held this September. The Egyptian Ambassador to the State of Qatar H.E. Amr Kamal El-Din El-Sherbiny delivered the missive as he met with Minister Al-Sulaiti in the Ministry’s offices today.

Minister, Kiribati Counterpart Meet on Enhancing Cooperation, Attend MoU Signing

Minister of Transport H.E. Jassim Saif Ahmed Al-Sulaiti met with Minister of Information, Communication, and Transport of the Republic of Kiribati Hon. Tekeeua Tarati, in the Ministry’s offices today.The two ministers discussed Qatar-Kiribati cooperation relations in transportation and ports, and ways to enhance and take them to higher heights, particularly in civil aviation. The meeting was followed by the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between civil aviation authorities of the two countries, in attendance of the two ministers.The MoU was signed by Mr. Mohammed Faleh Alhajri, in charge of managing Qatar Civil Aviation Authority and Mr. Mitateti Mote, Secretary of the Kiribati Minsitry of Information, Communication, and Transport.This MoU allows the national carrier of Qatar to operate any number of flights and use all transport rights for passenger and air cargo traffic.The meeting and the signing ceremony were attended by several MOT officials, air transportation industry officials, and the delegation accompanying Hon. Minister Tarati.

Qatar Elected Chair of ICAO’s Air Transport Committee

The State of Qatar has been elected chair of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO)’s Air Transport Committee (ATC).Mr. Essa Abdulla Al-Malki, Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar on the ICAO Council, was elected as ATC Chairperson. This came during the ICAO Council meeting at the headquarters in Montreal, Canada.On this occasion, Minister of Transport H.E. Jassim Saif Ahmed Al-Sulaiti said that electing Qatar to this position is a recognition by the international community of Qatar’s effective contributions and leading role in finding solutions to the numerous challenges of international civil aviation. That election, he added, also reflects the faith of the ICAO Member States in Qatar's global standing within the civil aviation community, especially since elected as a member of the ICAO Council in 2022.The ATC is a subsidiary body of the ICAO Council responsible for providing assistance and advice on air transport matters as outlined by the Convention on International Civil Aviation. The ATC recommends the adoption of Standards and Recommended Practices related to air transport and provides crucial information to contracting states to aid in the development of international agreements and government policies related to air transport.

Minister of Transport H.E. Jassim Saif Ahmed Al-Sulaiti met with Mr. Lorenzo Long, President of Temu Group, China's third and world's fifth largest online market.The meeting discussed cooperation relations and ways to enhance them particularly in logistics fields for delivery through the country's transportation facilities.Noteworthy, Temu ecommerce application today added Qatar Post to its list of logistics shipping companies within Qatar Post's scope of work.

Minister Meets with Huawei Vice President

Minister of Transport H.E. Jassim Saif Ahmed Al-Sulaiti met with Mr. Tony Bao, Vice President at Huawei, the leading global provider of information and communications technology (ICT) infrastructure, smart devices, as well as technology and smart solutions for infrastructure projects.They discussed bilateral cooperation, and ways to enhance it particularly in the areas of smart technologies on electric and self-driving public transit systems.Following the meeting, Minister Al-Sulaiti accompanied by Huawei officials visited the Shenzhen Supercharging Station and was briefed on the ultrafast electric vehicle (EV) chargers that run on solar power. He also toured the station’s facilities and viewed the integrated technologies in use. Additionally, the Minister was given a detailed presentation on intelligent automotive solutions and attended a test drive of Huawei’s latest M9 vehicle module.
