DOHA,The Ministry of Transport and Communications (MOTC) and Siemens today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to advance tech capabilities among Qatari nationals.The collaboration will focus on knowledge transfer and building skills that support Qatar’s national Information and Communications Technology (ICT) strategies and policies, and forms part of the drive to transform Qatar into a knowledge-based economy, in line with the objectives of the National Vision 2030. The three-year agreement was announced at QITCOM Exhibition and Conference, the country’s biggest digital event running March 6th to 8th at Qatar National Convention Center.Under the terms of the partnership, Siemens, a global specialist in automation, will share its expertise in intelligent traffic systems, smart cities and integrated mobility solutions, combining it with MOTC’s in-depth knowledge of public policy and regulation in the transportation and ICT sectors.It is also part of Ministry’s push to develop the ICT sector and to support the rise of innovative startups in Qatar.  “This agreement is part of our commitment to develop the talent and potential of Qatar’s youth by providing opportunities to learn from the experience and knowledge of multinational companies with deep roots in Qatar”, said Reem Al Mansoori, the Assistant Undersecretary of Digital Society Development at the Ministry of Transport and Communications.  “Qatar”, she added, “is committed to building a smart, vibrant and dynamic ICT sector that will be a key pillar of the transition to a knowledge-based economy.”Also signing the agreement, Mr Adrian Wood, Chief Executive Officer at Siemens WLL, added: “Our collaboration with a strong local partner such as the Ministry will help promote ICT development and adoption in Qatar for vital segments of society such as the youth, entrepreneurs, start-ups, and small and medium-sized enterprises.”

HE. Minister of Finance Ali Sharif Al-Emadi and Minister of Transport and Communications Jassim Saif Ahmed Al Sulaiti today launched a new system to automate the financial procedures of various public sector entities Maliya. The new system is a computerized and integrated administrative system that will connect the financial operations of ministries and government entities with a central financial and budgeting application.Implementing Maliya will improve the efficiency of the management of government resources, improve the quality and accuracy of financial data available to decision makers in government, and create an economic environment that will attract public and foreign investments.Furthermore, the new system will automate the processes of budget preparation for all government institutions by providing advanced analytical tools and a secure, integrated technical environment for the flow of financial information, and thereby minimize the time and effort needed in communications with the Ministry of Finance.

HE the Minister of Transport and Communications Jassim Bin Saif Al-Sulaiti and Minister of Finance Ali Sherif Al-Emadi today launched Hukoomi 3 during the second day of Qitcom 2017 taking place at QNCC on March 6-8.With over 1,300 services and 232 entities enlisted, Hukoomi Version 3 will make government information and services even more efficient for citizens, residents, visitors and businesses.The Hukoomi portal and mobile app provide a range of government services to users, including payment of traffic violations and utility bills, renewing health cards, as well as business, immigration, education and medical services, amongst others.Hukoomi has always aimed at delivering a genuinely customer-focused portal that allows users to access the information and services they want easily and quickly. With Version 3, we are continuing this mission through both the web portal and a much-enhanced mobile experience, including a greater range of official documents, service application forms and general information.”New advanced diagnostics will identify and resolve customer issues in real time, whilst big data and machine learning technologies will allow Hukoomi to continuously improve and refine the customer experience. A statement on MOTC’s website also indicated that the new Hukoomi would include a digital mailbox, a personal vault and improved content authoring.

HE Minister of Transport and Communications Jassim Saif Ahmed Al Sulaiti today inaugurated the sessions of QITCOM 2017, the fourth edition of Qatar’s information and communication technology exhibition and conference, taking place at the Qatar National Convention Center.In his opening remarks, the Minister said, “We were honored yesterday that HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani visited QITCOM 2017 Exhibition. And we were also honored by the attendance of HE Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Abdullah Bin Nasser Bin Khalifa Al-Thani and inauguration of the QITCOM 2017, which reflects the State’s great attention to that key event and its keenness to rise to the top digital economies.He said the event brings together a group of innovation leaders, policymakers, technology providers, business institutions, local and international companies and entrepreneurs in the field of ICT from within and outside of Qatar.The Minister said the sessions will be discussing experiments of different countries and innovative technologies in the field of smart cities and modern technologies on the path of building a vibrant, advanced and safe ICT sector, toward achieving the Qatar National Vision 2030 and building the knowledge-based economy.He stressed that adopting the concepts of smart cities where technology is a key component is crucial to ensure a unique level of living for people in Qatar.He also said that work has been underway to develop the general framework for smart and sustainable cities to provide guidelines and consultation to all sectors and to communicate the goals of a unified strategy.He said work is also ongoing with many stakeholders in industrial sector, academic and research institutions, environment entities, urban development entities and healthcare sector to build a high-quality infrastructure that contributes to building smart systems.

MOTC, Ericsson sign MoU at QITCOM 2017 To Collaborate on 5G and IOT in Qatar

Doha – The Ministry of Transport and Communications (MoTC) and Ericsson, a world leader in communications technology and an experienced service provider in Smart City Administrations, signed today a collaboration MoU within the scope of "Smart Qatar" Program, in a signing ceremony held at QITCOM 2017.Under the patronage of HH, the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani and close coordination with the Minister of Transport and Communication and his team, the vision for QITCOM this year is targeted towards developing the ICT sector in Qatar through collaboration with innovation partners.As per the MoU, MoTC and Ericsson will work together to achieve Smart Qatar ambition, which was announced during QITCOM 2017, towards Qatar National Vision 2030.To fully support this initiative, Ericsson will work with MoTC in several ways; firstly, in terms of IoT engagement using Ericsson’s cloud-based IoT Application platform. "HUKOOMI 3" PORTAL NOW OFFERS 650 ONLINE SERVICES

Doha-In the fourth edition of Qatar's information and communication technology conference (QITCOM 2017) that started yesterday in Doha, the launch of "Hukoomi 3" Portal has been announced to highlight the various governmental public services offered by the state's various ministries and entities.In this occasion, Mr. Tareq Al-Emadi, e-Government Portal Department Manager at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MOTC), stated that "Hukoomi 3" seeks to put an end to the manual (paper) processes for the day-to-day transactions, highlighting that several governmental entities from different specializations were contacted to gather all the necessary details and information regarding the State of Qatar to ensure their authenticity and accuracy so that the user can benefit from them.Al-Emadi added that "Hukoomi 3" now enables the user to use up to 650 online services from home without having to go in person to the governmental entity, thus offering additional 500 services that were not available previously in "Hukoomi 2".The new Portal allows users to view their personal information, commercial registration number if they have their own business, housing details, health card and its renewal date, electricity and water bills, and later on, more services will be offered related to passports, insurance, driving license...etc.Al-Emadi stated that MOTC had conducted an online and a phone survey to investigate the user's requirements and needs before revamping "Hukoomi 2" and launching "Hukoomi 3".Moreover, Al-Emadi added that "Hukoomi 3" is available on mobile phones as an easy-to-use application, as well as on tablet and desktop computers, to meet the needs of all the citizens and residents of Qatar.for Further information visit Hukoomi...
