Moroccan Delegation Visits Hamad Port

Doha-The Ministry of Transport and Communications (MOTC) has welcomed a high-ranking delegation from the Moroccan Ministry of Equipment, Transport, Logistics and Water at Hamad Port.The delegation’s visit is part of a tour to the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries to exchange expertise and boost cooperation between Morocco and GCC countries in field of transport.The delegation was briefed on progress in the construction, facilities, and development of services at Hamad Port as well as Qatar’s drive to becoming a major regional trade hub.

Doha,HE Minister of Transport and Communications Jassim Saif Ahmed Al Sulaiti received a message from Serbian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Construction, Transport, and Infrastructure Dr. Zorana Mihajlovic today.The message was delivered by HE Jasminko Pozderac, Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to Qatar. during his meeting with HE Minister Al Sulaiti here today.The meeting discussed bilateral relations between the two countries in the fields of transportation and communications and means of further enhancing them.

MADA signs agreements with international partners

Doha,The Qatar Assistive Technology Centre (Mada) has signed three partnership agreements with local, regional and global organizations at the first Gulf Region Education Assistive Technology (GREAT) Conference 2017 in Doha.These strategic agreements, signed at the Qatar National Convention Centre, will help provide the necessary technological tools and information required to develop and enhance the education curriculum for persons with disabilities (PwDs). The partnerships will also promote the adoption of the latest practices in assistive technology within the field of education."As part of our commitment to support persons with disabilities in Qatar, we have signed a number of strategic agreements to further develop and improve education for PwDs. These agreements will play an important role in developing the assistive technology sector in Qatar and in the region, through implementations and advisory on the best practices,” said Maha al-Mansouri, CEO, Mada.The first agreement was signed with the Training and Educational Development Centre from the Ministry of Education and Higher Education in Qatar. The agreement will help students through the provision of assistive technology and strengthen the number of support teachers in Qatar.The second agreement was signed with Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services in the UAE. This agreement will help raise the level of awareness and training for specialized teams and workers in the field of assistive technology. This will include programs that raise awareness and educate, as well as upgrades in the services provided to users of assistive technology, and further co-operation in scientific research and development.The third agreement was signed with the US Assistive Technology Industry Association. The aim of the partnership is to promote technology education and training programs in Qatar, as well as to provide optimal services for persons with disabilities and professionals who supervise them. The agreement will help launch training programs with internationally recognized certificates.

MOTC’s Delegation Visits UAE to Boost Cooperation In Land Transport Field

Abu Dhabi– UAEA delegation from the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MOTC) met separately with Abu Dhabi Integrated Transport Center General Manager Mohammed Darwish Al Qamzi and Ahmed Hashem Bahrozyan, CEO – Licensing Agency, Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), during a visit to the United Arab Emirates to exchange expertise and boost bilateral cooperation between the two sister countries.During the two meetings, the delegation, headed by Mr. Rashid Taleb Al-Nabit, Assistant Undersecretary for Land Transport at MOTC, was briefed about laws and regulations regulating the activities of land transport, inspection systems and heavy transport used in the two Emirates of Abu Dhabi and Dubai.In addition, the delegation also learnt about the mechanisms used by the two emirates to implement their land transport licensing strategy for limousine services.

Doha –The Ministry of Transport and Communications (MOTC) welcomed today (Wednesday, May 3) a high-ranking delegation from South Africa at Hamad Port.The delegation included South African Ambassador to Qatar HE Shirish Soni and a number of South African businessmen as well as representatives of a number of South African companies and institutions working in the fields of port and transport infrastructure.Captain Abdullah Al Al-Khanji, CEO of Qatar Ports Management Co. (Mwani Qatar) briefed the visitors on progress in the construction, facilities, and development of services at Hamad Port.The delegation toured the port where they learnt about the port equipment, sea docks, container terminals and other facilities.

First direct ship service launched to Hamad Port

Doha-Qatar Ports Management Company (Mwani Qatar) has announced the launch of the first direct service to  the new Hamad Port with the arrival of container ship CMA CGM Uruguay’, which is part of Ocean Alliance, the world's largest container shipping alliance.This is part of the Ministry of Transport and Communications ambitious strategy aimed at promoting Hamad Port regionally and internationally.The new service will support Qatar's foreign trade, increase the volume of container handling and reduce the time the goods take from ports served by the Ocean Alliance, Mwani Qatar said.The alliance offers 40 services on the East-West trade with around 100 ports of call and almost 500 port pairs.The new line will also support Hamad Port’s transshipment capabilities and help to reach the goals set to transform Qatar into a regional trading hub, which will have a positive impact on maximizing the country's revenues from the non-oil sector and contributing to the achievement of the Qatar National Vision 2030."We are pleased to announce the launch of the new direct service of Ocean Alliance, the world's largest container shipping alliance, which will undoubtedly serve the national economy and contribute to achieve the goals set by our wise leadership to promote Hamad Port and transform Qatar into a regional trading hub," said Captain Abdulla al-Khanji, Mwani Qatar chief executive officer.The new line, which comes in less than three months of the start of the first direct service between Hamad Port and Shanghai in China under MSC’s New Falcon Service, will provide better transit times and reduce the time necessary for goods from 30 to 14 days, he said.“Meeting the needs of our customers is our priority in Mwani Qatar, we constantly strive to develop and improve services in a way that supports our competitiveness and our presence as a regional and international leading integrated port and logistics services provider”, al-Khanji stressed.Managed by CMA CGM group, CMA CGM Uruguay is the second largest ship to reach Hamad port since the start of operations. It has a length of about 300 meters and a total capacity of 10,500 TEUs.The 14,000 TEU containership ‘MSC Esthi’ was the first vessel of such size to visit Hamad Port, which sailed into the port on December 1, 2016 marking the official opening of the port.About 19 containerships of the same size from the Ocean Alliance are expected to arrive at Hamad Port in the next few months.
