Minister Attends Qatar-EASA Working Agreement Signing Ceremony

Doha – QatarThe Agreement was signed by Qatar’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) Chairman HE Mr. Abdulla bin Nasser Turki Al Subaey and EASA Executive Director Mr. Patrick Ky, at the Ministry offices today.Under the Agreement, the CAA is joining the EU Ramp Inspection Program. The Agreement also boosts cooperation and exchange of information between CAA and EASA, in addition to possible exchange of the Program database between the two sides.The Agreement is of great importance in enhancing cooperation with international organizations with extensive experience in aviation safety, thereby helping develop Qatar’s civil aviation industry. Qatar is a pioneer in civil aviation safety and the first to have scored 91.16% in the overall audit conducted by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) on all aspects of air safety in its civil aviation system. Following the signing ceremony, HE the Minister had a meeting with Mr. Ky during which the two officials reviewed means of further enhancing cooperation with the Agency, latest developments relating to civil aviation safety in the region and best practices for maintaining environmental integrity.Mr. Al Subaey and the delegation accompanying the EASA senior official were also present at the meeting.

Minister Meets with Swedish Ambassador

Doha – QatarHE Minister of Transport and Communications Jassim Saif Ahmed Al-Sulaiti met here today with the Ambassador of Sweden to Qatar HE Mr. Anders Bengtsson.The meeting discussed cooperation relations between the two friendly countries in the fields of transportation and communications and means of further enhancing them.

Qatar Takes Part in IMO’s NCSR Session

London – UKQatar is taking part in the session of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Subcommittee on Navigation, Communications, and Search and Rescue (NCSR) in London. Qatar is represented by a delegation from a number of entities, including from MOTC.The session, which continues until Jan. 24, discusses topics relating to navigation and communications such as routeing measures and ship reporting systems. It also discusses carriage requirements, guidelines for the harmonized display of navigation information received via communications equipment, LRIT and electronic navigation enhancements.The session also mulls over matters related to the Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS) such as recognizing GMDSS service providers.The joint working groups at the session will submit their reports on maritime radiocommunication matters to the NCSR, the ICAO/IMO Joint Working Group on Harmonization of Aeronautical and Maritime Search and Rescue (ICAO/IMO JWG-SAR) and the Joint IMO/ITU Experts Group on Maritime Radiocommunication Matters.

“Park and Ride” Parking Spaces Now Available in Al Wakra, Al Qassar

Doha – QatarThe Ministry of Transport and Communications is announcing that free parking spaces near Al Qassar Metro Station will open for the public starting from Fri., Jan. 17, and near Al Wakra Metro Station starting from Sun., Jan. 26. The two locations can accommodate 700 vehicles.This comes in the context of MOTC’s “Park and Ride” Project, which provides parking spaces free of charge adjacent to Doha Metro stations. The project aims to encourage vehicle owners to use the modern public transportation systems to and from their destinations in less time and at a lower cost.Meanwhile, work continues between MOTC and several bodies concerned to complete and deliver free parking spaces in other two locations; Lusail and Education City, which are planned to open in late March.The “Park and Ride” Project is a part of MOTC’s Public Bus Infrastructure Program. It supports the country’s public transportation network and Doha Metro services for citizens, residents, visitors and FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 fans.Additionally, contracts have been awarded for establishing five new bus stations in the context of the same Program in areas of Al Wakra, Lusail, Al Sudan, the Education City and Industrial City and works are expected to complete in Q3 of 2021.The “Park and Ride” Project is another example of the considerable attention MOTC pays to providing modern and highly efficient facilities and parking spaces strategically distributed across the country to encourage the public to use country’s modern, sustainable and eco-friendly public transportation. This will help further improve the services on public roads and at major intersections by achieving smoother traffic flow, less congestion and less carbon emissions.

Sora Marine Training Accredited for Training Courses

Doha – QatarThe Ministry of Transport and Communications has accredited Sora Marine Training to offer training courses on how to helm private vessels and jet skis. This comes within MOCT’s concern to give effect to the provisions of the Law on Maritime Vessels and train seagoing vessel drivers based on maritime training programs endorsed by Maritime Transport Affairs at the Ministry. Sora Marine Training has been accredited given its long experience in the field of training in such a way that serves citizens and residents to be trained on how to drive maritime vessels in Qatar, thus boosting the principles concerning safety of life in seas, protection of marine life and maritime security.

Minister Meets with Lesotho Transport Minister

Doha – QatarHE Minister of Transport and Communications Jassim Saif Ahmed Al-Sulaiti held talks here today with Minister of Transport of the Kingdom of Lesotho Hon. Keketso Sello.The two ministers discussed aspects of cooperation in the fields of transportation and civil aviation services and means of further enhancing them.
