Bus Depots
Each of the 4 public bus depots includes several buildings for staff residence, service, administration, workshops and bus care, in addition to bus bays that are equipped with charging units to secure service around the clock. Each depot also includes service facilities such as for dining with convenience services, indoor recreational facility, mosque, administration building, services building, guardhouses and other service facilities.
Lusail Bus Depot
Lusail Bus Depot is located in Lusail City, north of Doha. The project is located in the vicinity of Wadi Al Banat Rd. to the north and Wadi Smaira St. to the west. The depot is considered the largest electric bus depot worldwide, according to Guinness World Records, featuring state-of-the-art photovoltaic (PV) solar panels within the depot which is developed over a total area of more than 400,000m². The Depot consists of 24 multipurpose buildings, in addition to bus bays, service facilities, recreational facilities, green spaces, and substations. It also features approximately 11,000 PV solar panels covering a total area of more than 25,000m² to generate 4 megawatts of power to feed the depot’s buildings with needed power. The depot is divided into three zones.
The first zone includes 478 parking bays for e-buses equipped with 248 electric charging equipment, in addition to dedicated buildings for repairing, inspection, washing, and vacuuming. The second zone includes accommodations for all the depot staff with a capacity of 1400 people, constructed in accordance with world specifications and the requirements of both the Ministry of Labor and the SC. This zone also includes service facilities such as for dining with convenience services, indoor recreational facility, mosque, administration building, services building, guardhouses and other service facilities.
The third zone is a depot for BRT e-buses. It includes 24 bays equipped with 24 electric chargers to support the operations of that type of buses. It also includes buildings for repairing, cleaning, vacuuming and quick inspection. An Operation Control Center (OCC) building is also located at the depot in an area of more than 39,000 m². It is considered as the central command center where all bus operations are monitored and controlled.

Al Rayan Depot
Al Rayan Depot is one of four public bus depots. This announcement comes in the context of implementing the Public Bus Infrastructure Program that supports the Ministry’s effort to providing a safe and sustainable public transit system that not only will cover all urban regions in Qatar but also form a coherent transportation network that includes the public bus system, the Doha Metro network and Lusail Tram.
The buses frequenting this depot will service the areas of Gharraffa, West Bay, Lusail City and areas in northern Doha.
Al Rayan Depot consists of two main zones: Working Zone and Living Zone. The Working Zone includes 380 fully shaded bus parking spaces, equipped with nearly 190 electric charging devices; each of them can charge two buses. It also includes a well-equipped maintenance workshop that has several vehicle care units and is fitted with latest tools and equipment as per the requirements of the bus-supplying company. There are also units for the daily and periodical bus checkups to ensure the highest degrees of passenger safety and service quality. The Living Zone is a 28281 sq. m. area dedicated for depot workers. It includes several buildings with residential units with a capacity of 1400 workers, in addition to service and recreational facilities.
