In transport field Leonardo presence in Qatar dates back to over 20 years in the field of ATC Systems both in DIA & HIA (which have flawlessly and smoothly supported air traffic management in throughout major events such as FIFA World Cup 2022, just to mention the latest). Leonardo also looks to the future by supporting unmanned air mobility through Leonardo Unmanned Traffic Management System which has been conceived to manage the rapid growth of civil applications in the UAV spectrum. In this field, Leonardo is also playing a major role in D-Flight (company based in Italy), implementing the Italian UTM platform for U-Space Services provision, whilst in the airport security field, the company also provides surveillance sensors, cyber security, communications, and baggage handling systems, ensuring efficient and reliable support to the airports operations.
In its activities, Leonardo supported technological sovereignty as an essential condition for the development of the State of Qatar, as well as of the company itself, promoting a renewed approach to sustainability in terms of technological innovation and process - as an enabling element of Leonardo’s path of innovation and growth - inspired by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and the recent guidelines of the European Green Deal.
